re: Ozonics (and scent control in general)
Posted by Richardheadtigah on 11/18/19 at 12:20 pm to Bleeding purple
My boys and I were invited to hunt a friends property this weekend. He put my son on a bow stand set up for a south wind. We had a north wind and I told him we didn't want to hunt this particular set up due to wind direction. He gave me one of the scentloc radials to use. My son killed a hog directly downwind at 20 yards. I'm convinced.

Ruger 10/22, you can do a lot with these guns. 22's don't kick at all and ammo is dirt cheap. Can kill small game and fun to plink at targets

Bow hunting is unethical compared to rifles because there are many deer shot with bows that were never recovered.
Not trying to get into a debate with you on this subject, but my dogs find about 40% of deer shot with a rifle and about 80% shot with a bow. I think the reason on this is because anytime a hunter pulls the trigger and finds blood or hair, they're convinced its a fatal shot. They can't see the impact of a rifle. Also, with a gun, I'm generally their last resort. They've spent hours tromping around the woods, pushing the deer and some will put their house dog on it. This puts unnecessary scent in the woods. When someone shoots a deer with a bow, they see the hit. If it's terrible they don't call me. If it's gut shot we wait till the next day. This results in higher odds of finding the deer.

This goes against everything I was taught learning to hunt. It’s only ethical to make the most accurate shot possible and put the animal down as soon as possible. You sir are what gives this sport a bad image sometimes. Please do your best to be a more ethical hunter, there will be plenty of opportunities for your dogs I’m sure.
I'll be sure to change my evil ways

That's fricked up and cruel. People make mistakes and sometimes make less than ideal shots, but to intentionally make a less lethal shot? You need to re-evaluate how you hunt and how you want to represent hunters.
I'll be re-evaluating all day today. Thank you.

If you double shoulder shoot a deer you are throwing meat away. That's unethical.
Shoulders yield about 4 pounds of meat on a 100# doe.
Did any of yall even bother reading the entire sentence I wrote? "A few inches back, no deer has gone over 60 yards" Yall apparently don't hunt. How many gut shot deer have you found within 60 yards of the shot? If i'm looking at a good buck, I'm breaking him down through both shoulders. If it's anything that wont go on my wall, I don't breakdown shoulders. I like to watch my dogs track. Simple as that. I have never intentionally gut shot any animal. Bunch of liberal pussies. It's a shame I have to explain myself on a fricking outdoor forum.

I have no experience with the 6mm, but my kids and I have killed 15 or so deer and hogs in the past 2 years with the 6.5mm, shooting the 140 berger vld's and have had no issues to complain about. Actually surprised at how good the blood trails are. I've intentionally shot deer a few inches farther back than I normally would just to let my dogs track and no deer has gone over 60 yards.

How to get better MPG in F-250
Posted by Richardheadtigah on 6/4/14 at 11:02 am
I have a 2008 F-250 with the 6.4l diesel. I currently get about 12.5 mpg. I have 35" mud tires that I'm about to replace with stock tires. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the chips or programs for this truck. It just rolled over 100k miles so I'm not under warranty anymore. I know that going back to stock tires will increase mpg, but how much? What about the chips? What's a realistic expectation on this? Thanks, R. Head

Beautiful deer. I should have my mount back any day now. Can't wait
re: Got a new Polaris Ranger (updated OP with more questions)
Posted by Richardheadtigah on 5/28/14 at 2:46 pm to Bleeding purple
I have been wanting to find a thread like this. I have a 2013 500 crew. I have a metal roof, folding windshield, a 10" light bar in the grill and just got my 20" light bar in yesterday that I'll mount to the roof. Put 27" Maxis bighorns and a 2" lift. Looking at some roof radios on ebay. I like to see what other people do to give me ideas.
re: Looking at different Polaris Ranger models. Your advice requested

I bought a used 2013 500 efi crew with 60 hours on it and I love it. Like most have said the turning radius is the only issue but it's by no means a complaint from me. It runs about 45 mph and pulls like a sob.

Actually, my son wants either a BMC or a Catahoula for Christmas. I'm partial to the BMC because I've owned them before and I love the way they act. Are Catahoula's similar? I mainly use them to track wounded deer.

Head Slash,(or anyone who's been) I saw you posted where you got a BMC from Southern Heritage. I was wondering if you went to the place to pick up the dog or got it shipped to you. Reason I ask is I plan on going soon to look at some puppies. I previously got a BMC from a place that was basically a puppy mill and my dog had bad health problems. The breeder told me who the mom and dad of the pups were but I don't think he really had a clue because dogs were able to get in and out of the pen with the bitch.
I'm curious if this place is the same or if it's actually run correctly. Thanks, R. Head

re: Rigid 10" LED light bar question

Good to know. How do you turn the light on? Is there a toggle switch in your jeep or on the light itself?
Rigid 10" LED light bar question
Posted by Richardheadtigah on 12/4/13 at 8:47 am
I'm looking at getting a Rigid SR Series light bar for the Ranger. I just started looking and noticed there's a few different options in the bar. They have spot light, flood light, Combo, diffused and white or amber lens. Anyone have experience with these? I'm also looking at getting the rigid ranger lower grill bracket to hold the light. After it's installed where is the power switch? Thanks, R. Head

I agree. I don't fly on hunts often but bought a cabelas case for around $200 2 days before I flew out. When we land in South Dakota, my gun case comes flying through a baggage hole in the wall. If it were a scoped gun I would of had to sight in again. Case looked well aged by the time I put my hands on it.

Flew to South Dakota to pheasant hunt in the beginning of September. I had TSA locks but my buddy didn't. He said he flies all over the world with non TSA locks and has never had an issue. They're cheap though so I bought them just to not have any problems. As for getting to the airport early, I didn't see it add any time at all. Good luck

Originally I had 1 business paypal account that served my company website and my ebay store. I ended up getting a second business paypal account to seperate the two. I did this because I would sell other things on ebay and at the end of the year I was having to seperate the items I sold. My items don't have much liability at all and I couldn't harm myself if I had to eat a few transactions.

I have been selling products on ebay for a few years now and just this year started selling alot more product. I'm wondering about taxes would I be better off forming an LLC or keep the ebay store personal? At what amount of money would you form an LLC? Thanks for your time. R. Head
re: Hog hunting in WMA after deer season
Posted by Richardheadtigah on 3/21/13 at 9:08 am to yodaddyroberto
Not sure if it's the same, but the WMA I hunt in MS says you can only kill them with the weapon used for that season. Bow season, you can only use a bow. Turkey only a shotgun.
