dat ain't sayin' much, felines are difficult to mount as evidenced by every pic here. while it might be one of the better cat mounts you've seen, it is still lacking in so many areas. the rabbit is much closer to reality...

I'm anxiously waiting on my son's cat to get done. He shot this big male the last weekend of deer season. It won't be ready until August or so. I'm just hoping it looks better that some of the nightmarish mounts I've seen posted here and elsewhere.

Maybe so, she did not list the species and I thought it was a cool mount, and it did not look quite like a bobcat?

ETA: then again from Wiki

quote:

A lynx (/'l??ks/;[2] plural lynx or lynxes[3]) is any of the four species within the Lynx genus of medium-sized wild cats, which includes the bobcat

Yes it's a lynx. The ear tufts and it's chasing a snowshoe hare give it away

I'm talking about the one his kid shot, if it was done right the bobcat would be a cool mount.

My grandpa used to have one that was reaching for a pheasant. If I ever go up there again, ill see if any of my cousins still have it. I remember it being decent, but its also at least 30+ years old so who knows what it really looks like.

That sounds cool. I saw one once on a section of a small oak. Had the cat locked and loaded ready to pounce on a squirrel that was on a branch above it. Was pretty badass.

Neither have I. I'm not sure my son realizes yet what a trophy he has. We took it off my buddy's place north of Abilene. The taxidermist said it's probably top 3 she's seen. All I can say is the damn thing better not come back with cartoon eyes or I'm gonna lose it.

This is pretty close to the mount I picked out.
