Now I have the Paint Your Rifle song stuck in my head

Maybe. I've been on the periphery of the gun community. I carry daily, and train often with my pistols. I just never got deep into it. Now I want to go full tilt boogie with it.
I went to a local gun store this weekend to see about an FFL transfer. I looked at their stock, and picked this up at a good price. Radical Firearms. Reviews say its on par with PSA. Some say its a little better, others a little lower.
But, almost all say the lower is solid. So if the upper shits the bed, I can always get a better one down the road.
I really just wanted a rifle to tool around with, but not break the bank. I just didn't want to mess with the M&P I have too much, because I think its pretty cool as is.

I also installed an ambi mag release. I need to order an ambi selector switch still

Why are ACOGs still so damn expensive?
They've made 10s of millions of these things and yet they're still crazy high?
Is it reasonable to think one can be found in decent condition in the $700 to $800 range?

They've proven they can make a good scope that's reasonable priced with their hunting line, so I've got to think military sales (and the people who want all things military) are keeping the price high. They have the various light amplification methods but they don't have variable magnification, so I don't see why manufacturing costs wouldn't be more in line with their hunting offerings.
All that said, an ACOG is a compromise optic that's perfect for somewhere like Afghanistan where you might be clearing rooms one second and taking a 200m shot the next. Unless someone does competition that mimics that there are better and cheaper options IMO.

ACOG
About 15 years ago I was at a Sheriff’s office who was a client. They were demoing ACOGs. They were looking at buying 100 at the time. The Trijicon rep took one off the M4 and threw it as far as he could. Then he walked over picked it up and threw back towards the audience. Picked it up mounted it and put 3 shots center mass at 50 yards. Sheriff was sold and signed a deal that day. Now you could do that with. A lot of optics today but 15 years ago it was the gold standard for badass optic.

I feel like fixed magnification optics still have a place. Who else is making American made prism optics that are as rugged as an ACOG and cost less? I'd actually like to know. I picked up a Vortex because I couldnt justify the price for a "budget" build. But I dont love buying things I know are outsourced to China for manufacturing.
I like the setup with the 5x fixed power and a piggy back red dot. Covers everything from a few yards to 400 yds without dealing with LVPO adjustments or magnifiers.

Can someone help me with a suppressor selection for my Sig M400, and potentially my Tikka .308?
This will be my first suppressor and I was thinking of getting a 30 cal size to run on my .308 and could swap to my 5.56 Sig M400. I know nothing about these besides one 30-minute video on Youtube. I am just an average plinker and mainly a whitetail hunter.

Here are some brands:
Aero Precision Lahar-30K / 30 / 30L
Deadair
Silencer Company
Yankee Hill Machine
Huxwrx
Griffin Armament
Surefire
Otter Creek
Q
Depends on what you like and what you're willing to spend. You'll more than likely need a muzzle adapter setup as well if you want to switch between 2 firearms.
Silencer Co ASR series
Rearden
Q Plan B / Cherry Bomb
Dead Air Keymo
Checkout Pew Science's website for his reviews. You can select the make, model, and gun it was used on and see what the sound signatures.

I love prism optics.
- My astigmatism makes most red dots look like a 10 moa ball of fuzz; prisms are crystal clear
- They're damn near indestructible
- If the battery runs out they're still perfectly usable
- A moderate fixed power (2x-4x) gives me the ability to quickly hit anything from point blank to as long as I'd ever realistically shoot anything in this neck of the woods without fiddling with adjustments

CAT ODB is Out of Stock on Silencer Shop.
The sales guy at the Silencer shop suggested the Q- Trash Panda or Thunderchicken. Any reviews here? In the link above the Trash Panda only scores 33 composite. Again I don't have much experience so I don't know how to relate that to real-world sound.

If you ever use that gun with gloves, you'll take that ambi safety off pretty quickly.
