Ive had this stamp for a sbr for over a year now. I think its about time to make it happen.

Waiting on an Aero Precision lower to arrive so I can finish up the Form 1 and get it engraved. Maybe in a month and a half I'll be able to actually start building the thing.

10.5 - 11.5" barrels have been tough, i've been shopping for an 11.5" since this weekend and haven't found anything I want to pull the trigger on yet.

I have been wanting a quality 300BO pistol AR for a truck gun. Started looking a few days ago and jesus christ on a cracker they are like hens teeth unless you want to pay GB premium prices. I saw a Q Sugar Weasel sold for $2100 on GB.

They’re in stock from Daniel Defense. Great barrel, I have it in one of my builds. LINK

How you guys feel about Knights Armament SR15? Pretty pricey but the reviews seem outstanding but I don't know anyone personally that owns one.

It’s a Knights Armament which is one of the better companies.
Probably some of the best suppressors made.

They’re one of the OG “Gucci guns as far as ARs go. Good stuff, but overpriced

Knights is good to go. They are heavy into contracts and don't really care about civilian market (about half a billion in gov sales in 19 years). Never seen anybody who owns one that regrets the purchase. They make incredible and innovative weapons like their light machine gun. Pricey guns but they are innovative. I've shot a couple of mags through a 14.5 sr15 and the impulse is super smooth. I don't think you will regret it if you buy one. LMT is another good government contract gun to look at. Their switch barrel system is really nice.

I see their stripped lower for sale for $230 and upper I wanted for $1776. Full rifle running around 25 to 2600. Love the idea of their improvements but that cost differential has me concerned. I do appreciate the perspective in it.

Bought a 10.5 upper this evening from PSA. Geissele handguard an FN barrel. Don't need it but who the hell knows these days. Rather have it and not need it kinda deal.

I feel the same way, I drove over to primary arms and picked up an aero upper and ordered a 10.5 ballistic advantage 556 barrel to finish out another lower I had sitting around.

cost differential
There is a tax of 11% they have to charge when they sell complete rifles so it's always more economical to buy the pieces and put it together. It'll cost you a couple hundred more to finish that stripped lower so you be right at $2200 to $2300 which is about 11% less than their full rifles.

Debating doing a bcm 11.5/12.5 or bite the big one and go KAC. Never had a KAC after all these years and the allure is there. Have to think more on it.

BCM is a gassier gun for sure. They are very reliable but it's a standard AR with insane QC and very well machined accessories. They do a great job in making sure their rifles work. Knights actually has some innovative stuff going on. Their e3 bolt, carrier, and barrel extension are great. The jam nut gas block is awesome. The gas system length is great. The port size is well controlled because of the tight seal from the jam nut. They are bombproof and have better recoil impulse than a BCM because of how they control the gas coming back. Can't go wrong with either and they are both more than 99% of people will need in a rifle. If I had the money I would go KAC because I could. I wouldn't be mad about owning a BCM though. Worth noting, you cannot swap KAC barrels because the extension and bolt are unique. Gas system is also proprietary. Basically don't frick with the kac. BCM you can swap with standard AR stuff. Does that really matter? Nah. The KAC will always work fine. If you shoot out a barrel they will replace it. If anything goes wrong (which it won't) they take care of you. You could always build a cheapo upper as a backup to swap on the kac lower if you want peace of mind in case something goes wrong (it won't).

Going into my first build soon. I have a lower receiver in hand. I jut purchased this pistol lower build kit.

What tools and such will I need to complete the build here? (besides the upper assembly)

ETA: Also, 7.5" or 10.5" upper? plan to eventually suppress it

5.56 or .300blk?

First thing, get rid of that brace and get a SBA3.

You will need a ball peen hammer and a set of roll pin punches.
Do yourself a favor and buy this.

Castle nut wrench.
A long screwdriver for pistol grip but that's about it.
