So do you fall in the camp that Javelina are good eating, you just have to clean them correctly, ie ME crew.

Or the camp most I hear, they taste about like they smell.

I’ve never tried one. I haven’t killed one in years and when I did I used to give them away.

That’s why I’ve got like 15 to 25 per feeder.

I’ve eaten both the javelinas I’ve killed. Took my time cleaning then and keeping the meat clean. It’s a little tough, but cooked down as carnitas or with green chilis it was great.

Plus they very rarely carry trichinosis, so you can cook the loins medium instead of well done

My brother is approaching 20 years in the military.

Will definitely add nilgai hunt to the potential gift list (NM elk, Manitoba bear and Wyoming pronghorn are currently in consideration)

Rize, do you have an email I can send to? We travel Texas often stopping at multiple ranches each trip. Love to send you a few questions.

Hey man you can't come out of the woodwork after years of ghosting us and weasel your way into a Nilgai hunt.

Get in the back of line.

I’m a solid lurker these days.

I see Rize in the most random places though.

I’m in San Fran for the next week so I’ll check it later.

Pulled up my email and I’ve got 300 to go through

Didn’t realize I wasn’t logged in so I’ve got a bunch to sort through.

Haha I know the feeling. What a place to be!

I’ll be in L.A. In August and I’m not happy about it.

Take your time.

Yes. Tough critters. Excellent table fare

Is it me or do they always seem to be running? They are hands down the most skittish of the non-native game I have hunted. They are built really odd too. Like their front shoulder really comes up high protecting their center mass more so than other deer/antelope. I guess that is why everyone I know shoots Africa type rifles as them. Like you said, excellent grub. My favorite by far and the good thing is you get lots of it when you shoot one.

When you are near Kingsville , check out the taxidermy shop downtown near the tracks to see Nilgai, deer and other mounts.
