Killed one 3 - 4 years ago on Kenedy ranch. Shot it with a .308 with 165gr Hornady GMX. Heard all the tough to kill stories from everyone. One shot kill. Fell over where I shot it never got up. I think the reason was everyone hunts them from vehicles but I told the guide I wanted to stalk on foot. Took three days but got a shot at 70 yd. off of shooting sticks. He never knew were there until the bullet hit him. I think shooting them from moving vehicles makes for less than ideal shot placement and you have them fired up and already on the run once you hit them so they don't go down. Just my thoughts from my single experience hunting them so take that with a grain of salt. Meat was very good. Mount came out great. Big animals. Took me and the guide and a winch to get it on the truck even after it was field dressed. Can't be absolutely certain but I think that was how I popped my 2nd bicep tendon. (First one was the result of moving a big bandsaw on a dolly after Katrina.)

Heck of a story. Thx for sharing.
If we get invited back I’ll be sure to book that hunt.
