Sad guy. Really disappointed that anyone would take that chance on any deer regardless of it’s trophy status.

Agreed. That’s why I shoot a 300 ultra magnum from my heated box stand at deer under a feeder. Only ethical way to kill a deer.

So you have never taken a shot at a deer that wasnt perfect broadside, standing still, with a perfect prop, within 100 yards?

You're either full of shite or havent killed many deer.

Would yall assholes stop arguing and tell Tuesday to go back to the creek with a grappling hook and get his trophy deer!

If that deer came out the creek that dog would have tracked it more.

That’s what I think. Dog gave up because the buck disappeared in the water. The current may have carried him downstream a bit, though.

About 10 years ago my dad shot a big 8 point. He always shoots at the top of the neck, this one he couldn't and had a broadside shot. He pulled the trigger and watched the deer run towards a 80 foot wide canal about 4 deep full of water lilies. The deer disappeared about 40 foot from the canal. We tracked it all the way to the canal and could see where the deer entered in. Couldn't see where he came out. That fricker had did a nose dive under the lilies and was dead as a doornail. Talk about a motherfricker trying to get him out with all the lilies jampacked in there.

Yes, ended up having to go get a rope and tie his head to the 4 wheeler.

Update. The deer was only 40 yards away when shot was taken. Same deer was caught on camera on our lease. I’ll try to upload the pic. Hit him low in the brisket.

If the lillies were that prevalent, I would have had to make a few casts

40 yards? And you missed?

Might I suggest you spend some time at the range.

Seems strange that a non lethal brisket hit would’ve knocked the buck down. At least you know what happened now and can get back after him. Hope y’all get him.
