PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Pender County deputies have arrested one suspect and are looking for another after the pair allegedly robbed a group of duck hunters in Maple Hill last week.

According to a news release, the four victims were returning to their vehicles after duck hunting near Webbtown Road on Thursday, Jan. 28, when they encountered the two suspects — James Farland Jr. and Tyrese Daquon Lee — who were waiting for them.

The pair allegedly shot one of the victims then took the group’s money and weapons. The injured victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the news release stated.

Farland was taken into custody the same day and both he and Lee are charged with one count of first-degree kidnapping, three counts of second-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Additional charges are pending, deputies say.

Farland was given a $300,000 bond. Deputies are still looking for Lee.

If anyone has information on Lee’s whereabouts, contact the Pender County Sheriff’s Office 910-259-1212 or call 911.

It takes some stones to rob a group of guys carrying shotguns but I’m sure they were just going along to get along.

Guns were probably unloaded ( as we’re taught) cause the shooting - bird shooting- was over. And even if I’m armed, if the perp(s) have the drop on
Me with their own shotguns, I’m probably complying.
Unless they try to abduct me. Then I say, frick that. kill me now.

I conceal carry and my situational awareness is always on high alert when I’m out and about.
When I’m in the woods or at the gate of the lease or driving out, not so much. If I was duck hunting my gun would prolly have been in a float case because I’m more afraid of boating accidents than flat Bill hypernt shooters.

Shooting someone during a robbery isn't considered attempted murder anymore?

Yeah, wasn't thinking about after the hunt. Still takes some big ones to rob a group of hunters.

Probably coming back from a hunt at the boat ramp and bullshitting when them thugs rolled up on em and caught them holding their nuts. Guns in the case, pistol buried under a jacket, and they have a piece out threatening to shoot you. Basically you have to comply at that point.

Happened to me once in BR. I pulled up to my apartment in Tigerland late at night after a hunting trip. My shotgun was behind the seat and pistol under the seat. I was getting shite out the back of the truck when thugs came up from behind with masks and a pistol drawn. Not gonna lie, I've never been so scared in my life.

I gave em my wallet and they took my keys. They told me to turn around and run, so I did. They didn't take my truck, just the keys and wallet. Bad thing was that I was coming back from Christmas and had like $600 cash that was taken.

Next day at work a bunch of wanna-be tough guys were all "I'd have done this and I'd have done that" I told them bullshite, you'd have been so scared you'd have done just what I did. A few months later one of those guys got surprised and robbed just as I had, and he came back and apologized for telling me all that BS.

I always have a sidearm ready walking back to the car after a hunt. Thugs must be high to try to rob guys holding shotguns though.

Do some of you roll up to the ramp with your shotguns loaded and at a low ready or something? Mine is usually in a case that I'm struggling to hold on to as I unload it and all the other shite all at once. So yeah I'm "holding" it but it's about as effective and intimidating as my dick at that point.

I had the same basic thing happen.

Old baw told me "let me show you some moves they taught me in the Airforce"

A month later I was there when he came in looking like death and shaking, I hit him with the "let me show you some moves they taught me in the Airforce", he didn't think it was funny.

I don't wish that experience on anyone, had me jumpy and leery for over a decade, I can't imagine what a woman goes through after a similar incident or worse a rape, must dang near be impossible to go back out into the world.
