I really hope you've rethought this position, especially now that someone knows you're a good source for free firearms.

The FBI came out with a report that said the 9mm was the preferred round because of advances in technology and people just took that as gospel. If the 9mm is better because of technology then so is the .40. The FBI has to arm and train a lot of different people including women who would have trouble shooting a .40. I would want a subcompact in 9mm though because of recoil. .20 is fine in a bigger pistol like the Sig p229 or p226, which were both designed for the .40.

Shield arms

Get the steel mag release. That +3 on the shield is shorter I think than your +2 from strike

The P226 and P229 were absolutely NOT designed around the .40.

The P226 and P229 were designed in 1980 and 1989 while the .40 was developed in 1990

Iu believe the 229 was in fact designed for the 357sig (necked 10mm) and just happened to be a great fit for the .40

appreciate it. ive seen those before but they arent really my thing.

was hoping it was a polymer extension that i could have stippled
with my 43 frame like i have below, just wirh another round capacity. i prefer the continuous stippled look vs. the steel +3.

prob just gonna buy a 43x frame amd move it all over.

the .357 sig was developed in 1994 well after the development of the p229

My theory is that both the .40 and 357 existed on paper and the 229 was designed around that general size/pressure cartridge. There's no other reason for it to be as chunky as it is.

That stippling is cool AF. I use a bike tire for grip.

I need to upgrade that BS. Who does that work on the bottom image?

Awesome.

Yea the 43x has a flush fit 15 round magazine available from them.

I run a kahr cm9 also. The 43 allowed me to go flush and still front pocket carry or at the 4 o'clock with the extended mag.

There is ONE advantage to the .40.

During the shortages, ammo was still available

I’ve got a 27 and really don’t care for it. My EDC is a G19 and yes I carry it to and from the truck everyday. If you’re looking for concealment, the 43X is a great weapon. Easy to wear on the waist, as it’s skinnier than that G27, and has more capacity. At the end of the day, what matters is what’s comfortable for you.

I have a safe in my truck. $250 with it. Well made. It can be cut with a angle grinder I guess. But deters snatch and grabs. Downside is you lose most of the center console storage

This. I have been carrying a single-stack 9mm everyday for 17 years. Started when hurricane Katrina evacuees ended up in my area. If I start to leave home without it on my ankle or in my waist band, I feel like a body part is missing; same as having my cell phone in my front pocket.

15-20 years ago there were reasons to buy .40 caliber. Back then people still believed in "knockdown power" with handguns.

With the advances since then in ammo design, good 9mm ammo (such as Federal HST and Speer Gold Dots) will do anything virtually anything a .40 will do - and do it with less muzzle flip.

The first handgun I ever purchased when I knew nothing was a G27. I learned how to shoot on that thing. I feel like if you can learn to competently shoot a G27 you can shoot most anything well afterwards.

I've moved over to 9mm now though, and my EDC is a G19 as well now. Eyeing either a G43 or Sig 365.
