My first neck shot on a doe today

I've heard all of the pro neck shot talk here on this board and decided I'd take a neck shot on the next doe that presented the opportunity. I had that opportunity today. Her head was down. She was at 90 yds in a clearing. My trigger pull was smooth and my crosshairs were dead on. Mid neck. After the shot I look up and expect her laying there in the dirt immediately. To my absolute astonishment she jumped, gave the hind leg kick, and ran off. I was floored. I was 100% confident in the shot. Regardless I get down with my tags expecting to find her off in the woods some ways. My father and I searched for 3 hrs high and low and found not a single drop of blood. I'm in disbelief and feel sick to my stomach.
I double checked everything at the range Thursday. I was DEAD ON dead on at 100. I've taken a doe at 238 yds before no problem with perfect placement. A 90 yd shot with a scoped rifle should be a layup for anyone. Yet here I am.
I know that most of you are going to say well ya just missed, but I cannot stress enough how confident I was in my trigger pull. She's hit. Is there any other explanation that there wouldn't be any blood from a neck shot? Am I missing something?

What gun and load were you shooting? Have you shot the gun today after the hunt?

Browning X Bolt .300 wsm Federal 180 grain trophy bonded tip.
I haven't shot afterwards. Will definitely be doing that to check here soon.

I started the neck shot discussion yesterday. Should still be on 1st page. From what I gathered, the only explanation is a miss. And if we're being honest, that's probably for the best since you didn't find her. Sorry for ya bud. Confirm the scope is on and get back in the stand!

Explains your miss.
In all seriousness, I am 100% sure you missed. I have shot a ton of does in the neck with a .300wsm. If you make contact there will be a ton of blood with good expanding ammo. No way she gets hit and runs off.

Clean miss buddy. .300wsm in the neck of a doe with a 180 grain premium bullet inside 100yds and no blood or deer laying there? Tough on your pride maybe, but at least she will live to be hunted another day. Sorry baw. Cut that shirt tail and get after another one

FWIW, I've been shot in the neck with a 7mm-08 at 65 yards and lived to tell the tale. Neck shots are NOT always lethal and speaking from experience the pain that the subject goes through from the result of a poorly placed neck shot is miserable. Behind the shoulder through the vitals is the way to go. Bigger target, more margin for error, and done right does not ruin meat.

The bullet entered my neck between the fins on the vertebrae basically in the dead center of the back of my neck. It exited the left side leaving a hole between the size of a baseball and softball. It missed my spinal column by 3mm and my carotid artery by 7mm. I do not recommend it.
