Now that is worth paying 100k for. And if 100k was less than .001 percent of my net worth I would have a couple of them.

great great grandfather’s double hammer 12ga shotgun with more history detail than this website would allow, used to track slave escapees with notches carved in stock, burned in house fire, stolen from gunsmith, traded back from thief using another shotgun stolen from thief’s house, “lost” among relatives since recovered which has caused rifts throughout the family, in short priceless...

A minor celebrity came turkey hunting to our place a few years ago. Brought his Purdy that he had just picked up in London. Waited two years for it and I think he told me it was $185k or so. I think he said the guy who sold it to him was either a 7th or 8th generation Purdy. Nice family business they have. Seems to have done well for them.
ETA: I want to sell American Walnut blanks to the London gun makers. Like as a retirement gig. Fly over to London about once a quarter and hang out with those guys. Have a cabin in the Missouri Ozarks and ride around looking at the lumber and picking out perfect blanks to take with me on my selling trips.
I think they have to air dry for like 5 years before you can even put them in the kiln. So I probably better get started on this plan if I'm gonna do it.

I wonder if these high dollar guns will become something like art where it is just a currency for people who need a place to stick all their money? I'd rather pay 500k for a gun than a contemporary piece of "art".

Same here.
Remember that video earlier this year when that master piece of art was sold for over $1 million dollars then got shredded

Outdoor celebrity. Think Toxey Haas level. In the real world, no one would know or recognize him. In the hunting world, he's a household name. I did a thread about the trip maybe 3 years ago.

The Armory in Ridgeland, MS has a gold
45-70 Gatlin gun. Not sure of the price but I’d have to imagine it’s in the six digits.
