Louisiana Sportsman ???

We have the best inshore fishing in the country and the main magazine/website is terrible. Was LA sportsman ever good? The classifieds are full of obvious scams, the inshore fishing reports are usually full of guide advertisements, and the quick links on the right side of the main page gets hit with spam pretty consistently. Did the ownership change at some point ? It doesn’t have to be Time or Newsweek but the site/magazine could be a lot better. I’ve only been here for three and a half years so I don’t know how it was before. Thanks

Example of "obvious scams" cause I've never noticed any.

yes they have always sucked. and gotten even worse over time. the website software even sucks and is often glitchy and people who have commented on it were banned for doing so.
the trolls run wild there (but only if you are in the right group of trolls) and very little is posted there except ads for guides or ads pretending to be posts to show pictures telling you "call me for a trip"
there used to be another site called salty Cajun that was started to provide another option where people could post and talk about fishing but the original people gave up and turned it over to some guys, who as turned out, turned it into a troll site just to harass others for fun and "as far as I know" it has now shut down from lack of funding to stay running. not surprising though since when people complained and asked management to step in and stop the trolling, they said no and in fact, the moderators there started insulting people for talking about it and even said they supported members getting harassed because they wanted people to be free to do whatever they wanted on there without rules, so its no wonder why everyone stopped donating money to support it lol.
I have looked around and just haven't found any other websites where you can talk fishing and ask questions or read posts about fishing, its really sad. they have a couple of websites out there, but they have little or no daily posts going on, and certainly no back and forth discussions, more like one or two posts each week, if that.

There's a few good posters there (at least there used to be) but it's generally a complete shite hole.

One of the posters gave me his number and gave me his actual pins on the map for his fishing spots. The rest is trash and the website is a terrible design.

It has been terrible since circa '08 when I started looking at it.

Someone had pictures of my neighbors boat and had it listed for sale. It was not my neighbors ad.

Well that's an obvious scam to you but not the guy who buys the boat from your neighbors wife

When it was print only it was a very magazine, I read it every month.

I have seen this one a few times . A bay boat that is only a few years old being sold for $1,500.00 The poster pretends to a woman whose husband just died and she wants to get rid of the boat. You send all or part of the money and the person disappears.

I did enjoy the old format but since updated it suxs. The classifieds now have put a virus /pop up crazy thing on my phone that causes adds to start popping up like crazy. I have to close the site and start over until it does it again. Only website that does this on my phone.

Before Katrina, I used the site as my primary resource. Somewhere after it went to shite. The magazine is still good but their internet presence is horrid.

Its the sportsman that does that? Figured it must have been pornhub.

I haven't really gone in there since the new format. They have to be hurting. Same goes for rodnreel. It seems like it's all guides now posting. We need a local website that only allows recreational fishermen to post and not guides.

northshorefishingreport.com is a good resource. Great people run it. I don't post there too often but I used to when they were trying to get it off the ground. I go take a look every so often and it seems to still be doing great.
