Tigershark I can guarantee that I know your inlaws! it's VP, I know everyone and everyone know me. It isn't much to talk about but gdammit I love Evangeline parish. I haven't lived there for several yrs now because of work but I go as often as I can. All of the good eats you want, good olé Ville plattions, and plenty of old charter to go around

Manda used to be decent but,,,they changed the way they grind it and now using wieners is the same. Just my opinion.

Mels on Hwy 13 between Eunice and Mamou is better than Teets.

Just reread this whole thread, the fact that the name Manda comes up at all blows my mind.

Picked up a smoked pounce from there about a month ago. It was delicious. First time ive ever stopped there. It shall not be the last.

I didnt get any sausage so i cant say whether or not teets is better, but if i were a betting man, id bet on teets being better.

Teets is GOAT IMO but Lejeunes in Eunice makes some really solid sausage and ponce too.

Living in Virginia I always keep an eye out for new stuff. Going to give Teets a try, shipping is about 3x as much as Savoie's. Guess i'll see if it's worth it

As a guy that grew up in Cenla not far from Ville Platte and Mamou I think T-Boys in Mamou and Teet's both have great sausage.

I lived in the Lake Charles area where Market Basket and Rabideaux's had the best smoked sausage.

I have been in the Lafayette area for 6 years now and struggled to find a decent smoked sausage there as they prefer fresh/green in that area. They do have some great fresh sausage like the ribeye sausage at Nunu's and their other fresh varieties. Recently Cajun Market Meats opened in Youngsville and they are the closest to what I grew up with. Most of the Lafayette "smoked sausages" taste like they let it sit in the smoke for five minutes, the Cajun Market Meats has a legit smoke flavor. When I first moved to Lafayette my new friends wondered why my gumbo was so much better than theirs, it was because I was buying real smoked sausage from Market Basket or Rabideaux's or getting somebody else to buy some when they passed through.

I don't know of much in Rapides. I know I can get Rabideaux's at Sam's sometimes. The butcher that processes my deer makes great deer sausage, so I guess I should try their regular pork sausage.
