Do you have to keep a physical copy of your fishing license on you or can you just take a screen shot of it? I just purchased mine online and it says you must carry it with you. Wasn't sure if Wildlife and Fisheries would be fine with an electronic version of the license.

Don't they check your drivers license like they do for hunting licenses?

I simply keep mine in my tackle box after getting it shrink wrapped at the local Office Depot. I don't go fishing without my tackle box, so no need to keep it in a wallet or anywhere else for that matter.

Recreational Licenses that are purchased at la-web.s3licensing.com via mobile device
(smart phone, laptop, tablet, etc.) will not receive a license in the mail. You will receive
an email with the attached license that can be saved and/or printed.

This is from the LDWF fishing regulations brochure. From reading this, it seems like saving the email attachment is acceptable.

You do not need a physical copy

Source: The wildlife agent that pulled me over in Delacroix in November 2018 and a guy with me did not have his.

I think they pull it up via drivers license number.

Screen shot is ok. I was told by WLF that a screen shot was ok for hog permit also.

Ive been checked before where i just showed it to em on my phone and it was fine. However i was stopped by a federal GW on a federal reserve in LA after duck hunting and he claimed he wouldnt have accepted it on my phone, had my phone not been dead. But rather than giving me a ticket for that, he just wrote me up for not having my stamp signed.

from a friend who is an agent said something to the effect of "phone version is fine but have it handy because the longer it takes you to find it the better chance you are getting tickets"

I print a reduced size copy and laminate it to the same size as my drivers license, and put it in my wallet. When fishing it's with my wallet in my dry bag. I guess a screen shot would do but I sometimes fish out of cell range, so I wouldn't want to have to pull it up via some kind of connection.

The only paperwork they won’t take a pic of is a captains license but by uscg that must be on the boat.

Cell service isn’t required to view cell phone photo albums
