Just buy a cheaper bolt action chambered in .308. Done deal, cheap amo and will drop both easily

You can get an AR10 at the lightest around 7-8 pounds. Any semi auto chambered in something like 308 is gonna be heavy.

If you prefer 5.56 there are a lot more options and weight goes down considerably. But I’d prefer something larger for deer.

Or you could go with a round like 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel. But these rounds are considerably more expensive than the others mentioned.

Right at $2k

One point of clarification, $2k total or $4 total?

If shots under 150 yards, try to find a Ruger .44 mag carbine. Fine shooting light rifle. Love mine even though I don't use it often.

If it has to be an AR then 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC with pistol length barrel is light and very maneuverable. One of these buttnekkid will easily be under 6# plus scope and ammo. As mentioned, the lightest will be a bolt gun in your chosen typical deer caliber.

Howa mini action chassis chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Will run you right under $1K for the gun.

The allure of the 6.5 Grendel is that is does what it does in the AR15 platform. If you are going to go bolt action there are better options unless you are after light recoil.
