Went crawfishing with the woman and my nephew (7) Friday, caught a sack and boiled Saturday.

Broke in the yak today on its maiden voyage. Caught 30 bass and a choupique.

Nice catch! Went to cocodrie on Saturday.....caught one measly keeper trout....nearly got spooled by god knows waft before it popped my line. Tire blowout, and lost trailer guide on the way down.
Special shout out to the ladies at sportsmans paradise......fixed us sandwiches right at closing time when they could have easily turned us away. Always love going in there.

Then screw it, I'll tell it

Fishing out of my canoe. My aerator went out so I told my buddy up front to throw me his because my bucket held most of the shrimp. He threw it to me and the beers caught up to me and it hit my hand and went straight out the boat.

Had a line out and was messing with my malfunctioning aerator when my rod shot out the boat like a cannon. Could see my cork but when I pulled up it shot under the water to never be seen again. Was fishing the pass so no telling where it went.

Said frick this, I'm heading back. Well the anchor was stuck. Tried to get it off for about 30 minutes then finally cut it.

Found out FIL has an 80 acre reservoir, tried it out for the first time. Caught about about 25 bass in three hours, most of it spent working on wife and sons equipment. Wife caught her first big bass and son managed to catch a couple as well when he got out of fish cooler or bait bucket. FIL says these aren't even considered big here.

Best Part of the trip was watching him.

Went to Chicot. A couple of huge chiqapin (sp?) but, as usual, no pattern so very limited. Bream still slow.

4 keeper trout that the wife managed to catch, all between 16-20 inches. then got spooled by a shark and the bite shut off.
went after reds only to find the shear pin broke on the trolling motor

drifted in some ponds only to catch at least a dozen sailcats on spoons and spinners... never had that happen before.

Had a good weekend down on GI. Caught a nice mess of fish everyday, trout, reds, and giged flounder. Never got a limit of anything on each day but had a couple ice chest filled with fish by the end of the weekend. I love it down there.

Honestly, the crowds were not as bad as I expected.
