I just drove 4 flipping hours to my deer lease. Cameo, check. Corn, check. Batteries for trail cams, check. Ammo, check. Rifle....nope. Now, some would give in, but to hell with that. I've got my .45 and I've moved in to about 15 yards of my plot.

This isn't the first time. Woke up at 2:30 am, drove 3.5 hours down to Grand isle. Put boat in water...no key. Attempted to launch out of Slidell another time....no plug. Hauled trailer, 4 wheeler, and all my crap to my camp to do some scouting on the 4 wheeler....no key.

Now, I have a large key chain with my boat key/plug, 4wheeler key, truck key. Don't think I can attach the rifle though.....

Me and buddy hunted one time. He forgot his gun, and I forgot shells. Go figure. We just decided to share.

My wife thinks I'm nuts when I get all my shite together the night or couple nights before I leave to go fishing for the weekend. I've learned from experience. Sucks to make the effort and planning only to be stuck at the ramp with no boat keys or other necessary items.

We've all been there and done that. Not fun.

My FIL will have to turn around halfway down the driveway no less than 3 times every time he leaves for the camp. If I'm riding with him, I tell him we're leaving 30min before I actually plan on leaving to account for him forgetting shite.

My wife thinks I’m crazy when I make a list the night before.

She also thinks I’m crazy when I leave my truck loaded to the roof al through hunting season.

To me, there are no other options

Man, I feel you. I forgot a four-wheeler key once this year already, gotten angle deep water in the boat from forgetting to put the plug in, leaving a gun at the camp, etc.

I just call them "growing pains" and nothing is more infuriating.

Forgot my boots one time had to hunt in crocs. That was COLD

There’s always an extra rifle or 2 brought by other members. But I’ll be honest I’d have to find me a Walmart and buy me a savage or cheap Remington to hunt with

Where are you located? Maybe someone could loan you a rifle for the weekend.

Damn, that sucks...lmao!

Worst I've had was a few months ago...went bow hunting in Sherburne, only about 30 minutes from home, but get there, pull all my gear out, get ready to walk in...no rangefinder.

Frick it! I went hunting anyway. Figured I knew the spot well enough to wing it.

Well, there was that one time where me and a buddy went fishing but forgot the bait. Hard to set out noodles with no bait.

I always load everything the night before I leave.

I always remember something else as I lay down in the bed to go to sleep.

Not quite as bad but first hunt this year I climbed all the way up in tree and realized while pulling rope up I didn’t tie it to gun.

Get a carabiner and clip the keys to the rifle sling.

I've been kayak fishing and forgot the paddles.

Release bow hunting is a very regular thing to forget, I've only done it once. After that I put old one in the bottom of my pack.

Flashlight always sucks to forget, gotta set up or get down in the dark. I forget one all the damn time on night hunts. Smart phones make it easier now, but I can't tell you the amount of times I've climbed half way down a tree and then had to go back up because I left something strapped to the tree I forgot about.

I adopted a practice many years ago after leaving shells at the house when going duck hunting. I made a short list of the things that were absolute necessities. For duck hunting it was 4 things, boat tank, gun, shells, license. Nowadays I probably wouldn't put license on the list. But my thinking was I may be pissed because I didn't have the coffee thermos, or I may swat mosquitoes till I was blue in the face without repellent, but I could hunt. Nowadays, I have my long list, because things have gotten more complicated, but the short list is in my head and still in practice.
