A buddy and I got to the woods once and he had forgotten his bullets, he just went ahead and sat in his stand.

This, but I just stack everything by the back door.

HaHa!! I feel your pain. OTOH, I admire your pleasant/flexible spirit. I don't have to much troubles forgetting stuff for deer/squirrel hunts, especially since I keep essentials in a back pack. What's not in the back pack is packed somewhere in my truck all hunting season long. One time while hunting on a deer lease in SW TX in January I forgot my boots. Fixed that by buying a cheap pair at WM in Dallas. I do have a checklist I use (and share w/ fellow hunters) when I go on a prairie dog hunt.

i have 50 copies of a checklist in the storage room. before a trip, i grab a copy and run through it. if i notice something on that trip that i needed that was not on the list, i add it and replace the old 50 copies.

It happens. One day I got off early to fish. I packed the Jeep: rods, tackle box, paddles, cooler, etc. I was past Belle Chase before I realized I had forgotten the canoe. Ended up at Hooters...

I’ve been an hour down the road before and realized I forgot waders. Nothing you can do there but turn around. Hard to explain when the wife gives you the go ahead and then asks why you’re home so soon.

Why do you take the key out of a boat that is on a trailor?

If the steal the boat it’s gone with or without key

I leave an extra key hidden very well on every boat, w wheeler, etc.... like you said, if they steal it, its gone anyway...

I tried that even went to a couple pawn shops. Walmart folks couldn't open the gun cabinet by the key broke Black Friday. Only one pawn shop had any rifles and all were waaay out of my "need it temporarily " budget.

I feel your pain. I fish at night quite a bit and that just seems to compound my stupidity. Most recently, I get all the way to my first spot and can see trout going crazy under a light, drop the trolling motor and get to the perfect spot, reach down for a rod annnnddd there’s none to be found - left them all in the back of the truck.

I’ve also gotten settled in my lock on and realized I forgot my release too many times. Now it stays attached to my bow any time it’s not on my wrist.

Me too, usually. I have an Ford Excursion and it's literally loaded down. Want to host a tailgate, gotcha covered. Need a couple 2x4's, no problem. My problem is, I brought the beast in for new belts, oil change and tire rotation and brought the guns inside rather than leaving them in there at the mechanic. I had piece of mind to grab the .45, but not a single rifle.

That's a great idea. One list and I'd forget everything on the 2nd trip by I'd lose the 1st list.

When she asked, I told "I just didn't see anything". There's no way I'm admitting this one

Went on a public land deer hunt in north Missouri a few years ago and coming out from hunting one morning I leaned my rifle up against the truck on passenger side to load all my shite. Loaded my shite and headed to the hotel, got there and no rifle! I hauled arse back to the public land parking area and there was my rifle laying in the parking lot. Got lucky it was during the week and everyone else had left before me.

I once left a handgun in the woods overnight. Fortunately so I really wasn't very worried. I was deer hunting from a climbing tree stand one evening. When I got down from the tree, I loaded up everything on the climbing tree stand and walked 1/2 mile to the 4 wheeler. When I got to the 4 wheeler I realized I'd left the handgun I was hunting w/ (Savage Striker in 308 Win) laying on the ground. I went back to the area I'd hunted but could never find the exact tree. You'd be surprised how similar trees look at night. You'd also be surprised how many bugs on the ground have highly reflective eyes! My cousin's son-in-law found it easily the next AM. Haven't made that mistake since.

Older guy in our lease left his bullets at home couple of weekends ago. Nobody had the same caliber that he had so my uncle was nice enough to loan him his gun and just sit with someone else. We’ve all been there. My back seat stays full with all my hunting stuff all season.

Non hunting related but, was in a band one time that played a gig couple hours away. We got there and started setting up when the piano player realized he left his keyboard at home.

I drive 9 HRs to hunt and there is a zero percent chance I forget my rifle. Now the following items may have been forgotten:

Toothbrush
Keys to the house
Underwear
Socks
Range finder
Wallet
Deer license

I may show up butt naked in boots with no socks but I’ll be killing something.

I also never forget my camera

I would suggest you make a spare set of keys. Keep one in your truck at all times.
