I make a list, check it twice, line up everything in the garage the night before.

Morning of, check list against pile in garage and load all items into truck.

Well, got to Sherburne for an evening hunt...left my headlamp at the house.

This thread has taught me nothing apparently.

This is my go to for anything I don't want to forget. If its a bunch of stuff I'll make a pile and clip something on the bottom.

I have a list that I keep in the Notes app on my phone. I email a copy to myself the night before I leave and erase the items as they go into the truck or kayak.

Can update notes whenever needed.

Also keep a list on Notes of all the baits I Have, I Need, or I Want. Keeps me sane when I go to Academy.

I always keep my pistol in a separate bag from my ammo until I get ready to to to the shooting range. I drove from Ruston to the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Office Range in West Monroe one morning without it. Didn't realize I'd forgotten it until I was getting it out to load it. That was after the range master had the range go cold and I'd walked past some of the other shooters to the lane I'd been assigned. I waited until everyone started back shooting to leave. Was pretty embarrassed to have to tell the deputy why I was leaving. He said it happens pretty often.

My wife thinks I'm nuts when I get all my shite together the night or couple nights before I leave to go fishing for the weekend. I've learned from experience. Sucks to make the effort and planning only to be stuck at the ramp with no boat keys or other necessary items.

I always make a list. I know myself. Doesn't matter what the activity, I need a list.

Maybe not smart but I leave my boat key in my rig. I'll never tow my boat with anyone else's rig so I'll always have the key.
