So say your mailbox is across the street in your neighbor's front yard, but separate from their mailbox. Who would be responsible for weed eating around your mailbox in his yard?

I grew up in this neighborhood with 2 mailboxes in my yard, and we always would weedeat around both mailboxes, never even crossed my mind to leave it for them to walk over and weedeat. I moved 2 streets away and the guy across the street will not weedeat around my mailbox, and I don't get it. He already passes right by there with his weedeater when he does his lawn, I don't understand why he wouldn't just take 2 seconds to hit that spot when he walks past it. Plus over half the area he leaves uncut "around" my mailbox could easily be gotten with his push mower.

If he hasn't cut it by the next time I do my yard, I'll be the bigger person and cut it. It just seems petty that he would deliberately leave that grass uncut.

Why can't you simply walk across the street with your weedeater?

I'd have my lawn guy do that.

If it's in my yard, I cut/edge/weed eat around it. Seems petty for him to not do yours if its in his yard. Maybe walk over with a beer one day when he's mowing and ask if he wouldn't mind catching it while he's weedeating around his mailbox.

Did you ask him why he didn't weedeat around you mailbox?

Why don't you bring over a beer next time you see him cutting the grass and strike up a conversation.

That’s not even etiquette, that’s just being an a-hole. Probably makes his yard look like shite, too

If you are petty enough, just cut your yard but leave your mailbox growing...see if you can find his breaking point

That guy is just a dick..

I would just wait until his grass was tall and then weed-eat around yours very very low to the ground.. maybe hit it with some round up

Leave it. If he weedeats around his, it will eventually bother him and he will.

Your neighbor sounds like a douche bag.

I'd go over there and round-up around your mailbox since he thinks it's your responsibility.

No way in hell would I ever consider trimming up a mailbox in someone else's yard. Those weeds could grow sky high for all I care.

Not my property, not my problem.

Its a FKN mailbox and grass. You spent way to much time thinking about that and I just wasted 30 seconds of my life typing this response to it!

Seriously, I edge my neighbors yard to his mailbox because its like 3 more feet and trim around his electrical box because its right next to mine. If Im out there might as well do it and it looks more uniform

I was thinking just let it grow, but now I'm with this. Kill it all.

damn it reb, this was my thought. Help thy neighbor out and roundup around your box so he don't have to worry about it no more.

what is the post made of? Could he be concerned with potentially damaging your post? If so, he may be avoiding that.

All of this ^^^

If its in my yard I maintain it. My current house has 3 mailboxes on the property line on one side and a phone box on the other. The center mailbox is for the house across the street. Whoever is mowing that day weed eats around them so they are always maintained. I would tell my neighbor not to worry about the mailboxes if he crossed the street with his weed eater in hand.

Your neighbor is just a dick. Let the grass grow. After all, its on his property. Jokes on him.

I had to tell the idiot yard people for my neighbors to stop cutting 2 feet of the 4 foot section intbetween our driveways. Either cut it all, or don't cut it at all. Looks retarded when you cut half of it. I have a zero turn, you're cutting it with a zero turn, it takes less than 10 seconds to make the extra pass to cut it all.

You could get some of that tree killing stuff Harvey offed those trees with and pour it around you mailbox - 'bout a gallon should work, no more weeding for either of you.
