Northwen Missouri. Traditions Vortek 50 cal muzzleloader. Had a buddy help me with load development on it and it'll group 4" at 300 yards.

Sitting in a kickback rocker chair tucked into some sage. Can see a thick bottom, a corn field, and bean field. Glassed a good buck chasing near here yesterday evening.

45 degrees, windy as frick. Moon is so bright I can read the mil markings on my scope turrets without squinting.

.35 Whelen for me

Ground blind. Trying to get him his first deer. He’s not a big hunter but always willing to make a few hunts a year.

Bucks were running everywhere yesterday. Had several close encounters but no shot opportunities.

Saw a huge buck across a CRP field year afternoon, so I’m on the edge of this CRP now. It’s super thick and I’m only 6' off the ground in a tiny tree. Just high enough to see over the CRP. This could work perfectly or be a hilarious failure.

We shall see.

Good luck gents

Crawford county Mo in a 40 acres hay field in a wet arse blind overdressed and very warm. Waiting for light to see what might pop out.

I'm mainly here for my best buddy, I've known him for 48 years and he lives on this farm now. He wants to learn how to skin a deer so he can go whenever he's free. The plan is to whack and stack early if possible so he can get some good practice in over the next few days.

No chasing here yet, hopefully they start this morning. Haha.

Kill plot on a ridge between two drains. Tons of pictures of does with a few young bucks scattered in. Getting closer to the start of the rut, so I’m hoping to ground check this really big 6pt this morning before the rest of the weekend goes to putting my kids on some deer.

I’ll also settle for one of the 2 giant boars I’m getting on camera. Those bastards are wiping out my gravity feeders.

Got my brother and his wife hunting the big stand on the pipeline and I’m on a little lane between a 5 year old cutover and some 20 year old pine trees where we’ve been dumping corn. No one has hunted this stand this year and we didn’t put a camera at it. So we shall see.

Finally feels like hunting weather.

Ladder stand on a bottom overlooking a creek with corn field behind me. Saw nice 8 and a 4 pt yesterday but can only shoot does (of course)

Walking in I had a doe 40 yards in front of me blow and took off running. Probably not gonna see anything.

I have to change batteries on a camera when I head out. I got a Tactacam camera by my stand that yesterday evening went from 100% battery to 1% and then died. In three years of using these cameras I have never had a camera do that before.

37 degrees. Same tree as yesterday.

Damn buck jumped in front of me a mile from here, damage to plastic mostly since I was only going 25, but annoying. I checked it out, good enough to roll. Wanted to tie the score... Might have, shot just before 7. It ran off, I'll get down in 20 or so and hopefully find him.

I have the 150 grain white tail. Shot it through the same hole while sighting it in.

Fun hunt so far. Saw a little young 8 point now 3 does came out when he left. Got some movement around our place

Cracking up watching a spike try and figure out the trough we have out for corn

He’s unsure about it. So he sneaks up on it sniffing up and down, then retreats to the tree line. He fully stretched his neck out and got close enough to peak at the corn inside, then darted back to the tree line

He’s been circling this trough like a fighter in a ring for 10 minutes and people wonder why I like to hunt. Watching nature like this is awesome, and entertaining!
