My “when all else fails” lure is a 1/2 oz chartreuse black back rattle trap. This thing catches bass, choupiques, gars, hybrid stripers, gaspergou, speckled trout, redfish, and black drum. I have at least 3 in the boat at all times. I bet you could catch 5 a day right now at Bruin with this lure. Good fishing.

Do you have any rivers close? I can hit a river by me and catch 20 in a day during the dog days of summer.

Caught 13 Saturday morning before the heat drove me away. Yamamoto senko worms in some purple flake color that just happen to look good at the tackle shop the day before.

They were delicious.

Y-day was somewhat cool up here (considering what we have had). Upper 80s and lower humidity.

My son and I fished the lake on our farm. Between bass and bream we probably had 50 or more. Most were smaller but it was fun until he put a hook through his index finger.

My lake is a little bit unique in that for a smaller lake 8-10acres, it’s deep.
30 ft in the deepest part and 20-30 ft off the bank its 10-15 ft.

The weather was incredible yesterday. My 5 year old caught two pretty nice bass right before dark in a little pond on Memphis National.

Great way to spend Father's Day except for the hook

Friend of mine have been fishing these hourly pay tournaments, he won $3,500 a few weeks ago.

He's finding balls of shad in the channels then fishing under them

He has that high dollar sonar stuff though

Throw a weightless wacky senko worm. I’ve been getting hits on that when I can’t on anything else.

I smoked em on Toledo yesterday morning at daylight, quit after about an hour and a half cause I was already sweating bad but caught 8 pretty quick, all on a frog in hay grass and pepper grass.

Wait about a week or two and go to Yucatan.
In Yucatán, the lower the river level the better the bass fishing will be.

Fished the full moon last week. Caught 4 bass and 1 channel cat. Fished from 8pm-4am.

My cousin told me he talked to y'all on your way out that evening. I think he and I are going to try it on the next full moon. We need to all go together in both boats.

Keep notes on the conditions, wind, temperature, current, water clarity, etc.

You will see a pattern.

Pick up a chatter bait…some magical things happen in creeks and rivers this time of year on a chatter bait…I’m catching on spinnerbaits and wacky rigged senkos right now as well.

Red River in the Marksville area. Find the deep holes against the bank with structure. Not hard to find. Basically let my pegged brushhog or fluke all the way to bottom and jig it up and down. Usually catch them that way.

In the main river, or the various oxbows?

In the main river. Kinda in the small washouts I call them. Usually where there are trees on bottom. Oxbows are to shallow usually this time of year. That works for me and hitting big limestone rocks on the banks right at daylight with a watermelon red fluke or baby brush hog Texas rigged.
