Stay away from the SAKO and Tikka junk. SMMFH why these guns are popular on this page blows my mind. Anywhere else and you get laughed out the room. Go with a Browning x-bolt you will never be disappointed

The Win Model 70 featherweight is a great gun. Savage doesn't get a lot of talk here, but you should check out a Model 14/114 American Classic. Classic wood stock rifle, Savage accuracy, American made, well within your budget.

Savage Model 14/114

Side note, walked outside (Minnesota) and it's 58 degrees this morning, walk into work and there's a deer rifle thread....we must be getting close baws

Ya, the only way I see being able to do that is to reuse the factory stock and just get a new barrel. Would be close though.

Truing up the action $300, new barrel $200-375, fitting/chambering barrel $300.

Maybe not.

What's the difference in the t3 and the t3x? Anything drastic? What about the hunter vs forest?

Improved Stock, heavier steel recoil lugs, metal bolt shroud (was plastic on t3)

Sure thing bud, when a bunch of well known gunsmiths say the tikka action is pretty much true out of the box ill take their word for it. They dont need the work a remington does.

If anyone started laughing id leave because of the ignorance, not because I was laughed out of the room.

hello again

funny you mention getting laughed out the room, that's exactly what happened top you last time you argued X-Bolt > Tikka

ETA look at his post history. it all makes sense now This is from the reinstatement thread:

2. a year or so
3. not sure maybe not
4. Epic blow up on outdoor board
5. ???
6. Can't vouch that it will not blow up again...but it would be awesome to read his daily fkery
7. Admin know that this would be a top 5 add back so go ahead and make history and let that guy back on.

I put this X-Bolt together with a 4.5-14 x 50 Leupold for Elk for under $2k.. Solid rifle with zero complaints.. Don't think you'd be dissatisfied with an X-Bolt in any caliber really

Win M70 Super Grade of Featherweight.

Other choice would be Rem 700 CDL SF, or better yet and older BDL Mountain Rifle. Hinged floor plate only. IMO.
