Heaviest Deer you’ve killed - will1883
My brother killed an 8 point this weekend in the MS Delta. The rack was nothing special, but obviously a mature deer. A mere 290 lbs. What’s the heaviest deer you’ve killed?...

re: I kind of want an AR10 ...308, 7mm-08, or 6.5 Creedmore and why? - will1883
I don’t think the extra weight is worth the extra thump (at long ranges). Most of your thermal shots are going to be well within 100 yards. ...

We don’t shoot subsonic. We shoot supersonic when hunting hogs. In fact, I don’t have any subsonic ammo....

What about 300 black out SBR suppressed? That’s what we run for thermal hunting for hogs. Lightweight (which is key), easy on the ears, and the caliber is fine for the effective thermal range. ...

re: Thermal Experts Check In Here - will1883
I recently purchased a Pulsar Trail XQ38 ($3200) and really like it. I hunt with guys who use ATN and Night Optics. Everyone agrees the Pulsar is definitely the clearest, even over the $6K Night Optics. One guy has the cheap ATN and after hunting with the Pulsar for a couple of hours, I looked...

re: First hunting rifle. Stainless barrel? And caliber question. - will1883
I think it is worth the extra $150, but I guess it just depends on how often and where you’ll be hunting. I would worry more about rust prevention than I would a deer seeing your stainless barrel. My guns get used frequently during the season and I’ll hunt in muddy and wet conditions. Definitely ...

re: Just found out I’ve got a large brain tumor today. - will1883
My mother started having double vision one day. We found out she had a tumor in a very inoperable location. The only option was to treat with radiation using the gamma knife. The good news was, because of the location of the tumor, they feel certain it is a meningioma. These are almost always be...

Ideal lake depth question - will1883
Our deer camp has some steep hill property in MS and lately we’ve been thinking about building a 10 acre fishing lake between two of the ridges. My concern is that the average depth in the lake would be too deep. I read where you want your average depth for a pond in MS to be 5-6 feet. I believe ...
