I have a 12000 pound winch boy

Ideally 2 snatch blocks and another vehicle with a winch.

I still haven't figured out why everyone is suggesting these complicated arse recovery solutions

Can you not use this and winch to the side
Posted on 3/13/15 at 7:39 pm to Hammertime
I'm assuming he's already tried winching it out conventially. And 2 snatch blocks is far from complicated.

How close to the truck can you drive? If you can get fairly close there and have trees around, you can use 2 5ton chainfalls together choked onto 2 separate trees with choke straps, first hook onto hitch receiver and get the back tires up, put stuff under them, then move to front, and do the same on the tow hooks.
When you get each end up,you can also change location of where you set the wheels back down. This is called Tarzaning in riggers lingo, because once you get the wheels up, you can feed out one chain, and take the other in. Its like swinging each end between trees, a little bit at a time.
It's a bit of hard work, but guys do this at the shipyard everyday. Really you could pull the whole truck out this way if you are determined enough, just keep choking onto new trees as you bring it back.
I only ask " how close can you get?" because the chainfalls are a bit heavy to tote, maybe 50 lbs.you can do it though.

Hand crank winch or hi lift jack on the arse end and viola, problem solved for $50 and without having to worry if you've got the thing hooked up correctly.
You might have a sledgehammer, but using it to hang a picture isn't the right idea. Occam's razor and all

Hey there fella, I believe he was poking at your "car" reference and not 10k winch
someone gets it...
Cowgirls lack of comprehension and knowledge on trucks, winches and most likely girls is truly sad day for people of the outdoors.

Update needed.
been stuck in the deep dark woods before. i just jacked each tire up individually and put sticks and branches under it and in front of it. course it took a long time, and i guess its possible to get sooo stuck that you cant get a jack under it.

Your dad sounds like a complete moron if hes taking his truck out muddin in the woods at his age especially with this weather
I got my ole chevy blazer hood deep in a puddle in kisatchie once. It took a vietnam era deuce and a half to get it out. If you know anyone that restores giant army vehicles, thatd be ur best bet. A hummer maybe. You really need to get 4-5 tow straps so that you can tie another car with to a tree and winch him out. Ive tried a tractor before and they cant usually get the momentum or traction
Ur best bet is another car with a 10,000 pound + winch
Someone beat you with the stupid stick.
Read the thread next time before you impart your wisdom.

Get the rear winch bracket that hogdaddy showed and take the wench off the front and mount it on rear.
Profit
Profit

I think the OP should hold off on mounting the wench until the truck is out of the mud. Then, it'll be time to celebrate.

Is he still stuck? No pics?
