Just because something is legal, doesn't mean everybody has to support it. There are certain things that are legal that I do not support and some thing that are illegal that I wish were legal.

As far as running deer dogs go I really dgaf I it's legal or not. Just keep your dogs off my property and realize that shooting a deer in front of dogs that you otherwise would have never had the ability to kill is lick and not skill.

That goes for all irresponsible dog owners. My game camera at my house hasn't taken a picture of a deer in over a month but I get pictures everyday of my neighbors dogs coming through my food plot. He wouldn't want my horse grazing through his garden just as I don't want his dogs in my food plot.

So a guy hunting in a heated box stand over a food plot with a corn feeder is skill?

Maybe you should get off your arse and go find the deer. And I would take care of the neighbors dogs.

If you think hitting a running deer isn't skill then I don't know what else to say. BTW there were twice as many deer killed still hunting on our lease than dog running.

I know you did. I don't like threads like these that gets one way of hunting against another. I don't care how someone else hunts as long as it's legal. I don't think they should be put down by the way they like to hunt. We should support one another not fight.

a deer has more of a chance in front of dogs than one eating from a bait pile.

Never said it was but the deer killed this way wasn't forced to come to that are while the hunter was sitting there. As far as hunting over food plots I think it does take some skill and effort to successful kill a mature deer this way.

I've found plenty of deer by getting off my arse. The plot I'm referring to is one I have out my back door that is for deer watching. Not hunting. With everyone shooting hair around here (with and without dogs) I like giving the deer a place to feed without being shot at

We can criticize every way of hunting till the keys fall off a keyboard but it won't change opinions. Just like changing the opinions of anti gun crowds.

I'm not criticizing anyone. As I have said already I'm for take game by what ever means that are legal. IMO if you have a problem with this that's a you problem.

I'm apologize if it seems like I'm busting your balls but I would tell you the same thing in person and we'd probably drink a few beers while doing it. Topics like these can poison a site and can have neighbor against neighbor. We are a minority in this country to begin with and we damn sure don't need to be fighting against our own.

Dog hunting is for the uneducated who dont have enough land to kill their limit of deer every year and choose to run deer off others properties and kill the deer as they cross the roads.

I don't know about the dog hunters you know, but the guys in our club are doctors, business owners, CEOs of hospitals, etc. And most of them have plenty of deer in the freezer by the time dog season rolls around. And the guys that walk the dogs are some of the most skilled woodsmen and deer hunters you will EVER meet. And we keep radio collars on all our dogs and have switched to beagles to keep them in our property. We have 2000 acres and do everything in our power to keep out dogs on our property.

I just don't get all the hate for dog hunting on here. If some of the haters saw how much fun it actually is, it might change your minds.

And as far as killing deer, my wife asked me the last weekend of the season if I was going to our land in Simsboro to still hunt, or our lease in Oil City to run dogs. I told her we didn't need any more meat in the freezer, so I was going to run dogs.

Mainly bad experiences with dog hunters. My first experience with them was when I was about 16, drunken Texans shot deer, dogs and destroyed property chasing them.

I'm sure there are ethical hunters who use dogs, but there are a lot who aren't ethical.

Y'all getting silly

There are some that believe any killing of wildlife is unethical. It's a slippery Sloap when questioning ethics.

Based on sheer numbers, yes.

Biggest problem with the dogs, it's difficult to keep them in a confined area. At least it is for many hunters, it seems.

I meant illegal taking of game.

Its def a slippery slope, and why i support any legal method someone wants to use.

I'm ok with any legal hunting as long as the hunter is respectful of those around them. Some I'll loosely call "hunting" but to each his/her own.

Why is it so hard to fathom that some clubs are filled with members that actually like killing deer?

I'm in a dog hunting club in north La where everyone is happy no matter who actually kills the deer.

I don't really get it either. Not a deer hunter but if they give you 6 tags, fill em. If there's a problem with that, they should give less tags.

Don't they give tags based on deer populations anyway? I can remember a time when people hunted all year and may not have seen any deer.
