My dad recently passed away and had a few hunting rifles and other guns. Can anyone direct me to the proper way to sell or dispose of the guns? I don't hunt or have any use for them and have no knowledge about gun transactions.

Thank you.

Do not sell your father's guns. That is all.

Give them to me and I'll make sure to dispose of them properly.

I appreciate all the "offers" to get rid of them. Really I was looking for guidance on the process. We aren't doing anything right this second with them, just trying to figure out the process. Do you need to register that you sold them anywhere? Things like that.

You don't have to, you can just trade them for cash.

You can create a bill of sale if it makes you feel better. Record their dl info...

You're are a disappointment as a son. I hope he haunts you. That is all.

Downvotes? It was the part about haunting him, right?

Sorry, that was over the line.

I'm sure you have your reasons for absolutely needing to post that. My dad was an avid outdoorsmen and conservationist, I simply didn't take to it. I had other interests.

I'm sure you already know what you are but thanks for confirming it to the rest of us.

I would say don't sell them, grandkids might have an interest down the line.

Post what you have on here and we could help a little more on pricing and might even have some of us buy them from you.

This is my advise as well. But if you must sell them I have had very good results with LOUISIANA SDPORTSMAN CLASSIFIEDS.
Good luck.

seriously, though. did your dad leave you anything else? anything sentimental? guns are usually the objects that bond a dad and son together. regardless of what they were used for.

My standard response to these threads:

What I would do is go to a free anonymous sports focused message board and start a thread that is allegedly asking about the “best way” to sell a gun and then list a description of what I was trying to sell. Then simply wait for someone to say “I will buy it” or “how much you asking?” Pro Tip - Have an email account “username @gmail.com” set up to take the transaction offline.

Most important part. Be sure to deny this was your original intention of the thread even though two or three people do it every week.
