I pay three dollars a month for my golf cart, and eleven for my old arse four wheeler. I just know if I drop it, something bad will happen.

I pay $253 a year for 250k/500k coverage and it's in a 1m umbrella policy too as a separate cost.

Damn

I pay zero. That applies to side by sides, regular atvs, lawn mowers, and anything else I can ride off road. Maybe if I planned on totaling mine, but I don’t plan on sinking it or wrecking it into a tree at 70mph so I feel like my money would be better spent on something other than insurance.

I don't pay for it on my 4 wheeler or sxs.

But I might because abunch of guys I know where at Cross Bar Ranch in Central Oklahoma. One is wealthy, his family owns sod farms all around the Red River area in Oklahoma and Texas.

They were all camping in the RVs and drinking. The wealthy guy took a few other guys I know and tried a tough climb at night.

The passenger had to get life flighted all the way down to DFW area. This happened like 3-4 months ago, but I lose track of time.

Some pretty big lawsuits are in the works from what I hear.

ATV insurance wouldn’t cover getting sued

Try Formost or Progressive
True, insurance will not eliminate a lawsuit but it may keep a judgement off your life. Judgements are effectively a bankruptcy, can't get your 401k but will definitely Fuk your life going forward.

I’ve spent my entire life doing stupid stuff on dirtbike,ATVs and SxS, but always 100 percent sober and fully dressed in protective gear.

If I’m not fully dressed or I’m drinking, I’m not doing anything stupid. I will drink a few beers and ride my sxs at my camp, but I’m not going more than 10-15 mph and I’m always in control. If I’ve had more than a few beers, then it stays parked.

I’ve had some serious injuries but that’s part of MX

What? If you're insured solely for the equipment itself, sure, you wouldn't have liability coverage in the event of a lawsuit. Most sxs policies include liability coverage as well, which would cover defense costs and indemnity for personal injury. I'm not sure why anybody would purchase sxs insurance without liability coverage and if you have an umbrella policy, it is likely required in order for the umbrella to kick in to cover any excess claim.

Son's new Polaris Ranger stolen from hunting camp 1st year he had it. Since it was insured he received check for full value. Would have been painful with no insurance.

I have full coverage on my 20 year old Foreman with Progressive for $87 per year. Mainly just have it in case it gets stolen since I leave it at a camp in the woods year round.

Typically umbrella underwriting requires everything you own with a motor be listed along with policy info.
And for the guy who said sxs insurance won't cover you when being sued...don't quit that drive thru job.

Question: what stops owners from saying their ATV was stolen, getting paid by insurance for the ATV, then purchasing another one

I know it’s highly illegal and morally wrong, but it seems really easy to get away with
