He more than likely made a couple of approaches to test the face of the takeoff, felt comfortable with the lip on the face and sent it.

That was probably a 100-120 ft jump. There is usually one of these at each local MX track, and many more in the free ride ours out west.

Dangerous for 99.9% of the men in the world? Absolutely. I have a son and son in law that could jump it and I would have zero concern watching them do it as long as traffic was clear.
