So I asked you guys about the Honda Recon. Went and looked and think Im going to go with the Rancher 4x2. Add a winch if I get stuck and should be good to go. Anyone have one and can give a review.

Had an older rancher.....not sure it was a 420 but it was a solid machine. Typical tough as nails Honda.

Our 8 year old 420 still runs strong. Works hard everyday. Just bought a brand new one to go along with it

Exact same things go for the Rancher. Mine, I think is a 350, and has plenty enough power for me.

Harder to pick up out of the mud hole though

that's why I think I will add a winch. Right now the rancher is only 800 more than the recon. Physically it looks like twice the bike

Most reliable bike on the market. I had one and sold it, bought a Yamaha and it tore up. Went and bought my old rancher back and it's still kicking. Light enough to rock it and get through a mud hole unlike the formans

No experience with a newer model rancher, but I bought a Foreman a couple of months ago. I haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like, but from what I've seen I am very happy with it. I got the manual shift with the power steering. Plenty of power and handles very good.

I have an 07 420 rancher. I went from 250cc with a carburetor to the rancher with fuel injection, the difference is incredible. No warming up, instant throttle response and cranks immediately.

It is a bitch when it gets stuck. I can not lift it like I could the 250cc.

LOVE mine

Last year me, my son, my BIL and a deer rode it through a slew about 500 yards no problem. Double head on it often. Have a winch and have never used it.

I have an 08 4x2, it's a freaking beast of a 2wd. Fast and super nimble, great ride. It's light enough if you get stuck it isn't hard to get out. I threw some itp mud lites on it and called it good. Very solid bike, you will not be disappointed.

420 is a much better bike than a recon..

I rebuild more Recons then anything..

The fuel injection is nice on the 420 never have to rebuild a carburetor..
I have a 250 motor on the bench now that I'm putting a crankshaft in

The new 420s are pretty awesome. They have a great power to weight ratio, and typical Honda reliability.

I guess I'm just different but I don't see the need for a 2wd 4 wheeler unless you racing. Kinda like a 2wd jeep wrangler, pointless in my opinion. Spend the extra money and get 4wd probably be easier to resale in the future also.

Got an 08 4x4 and just spend the extra and get the 4x4 put some decent tires on it and it will not let you down. I love mine.
