Heavy Duty Tire Plug Kit

0As we spend time in remote areas with thorn trees, stobs, etc., just looking to puncture a truck tire, does anyone have a link to a heavy-duty tire plug kit they really like?

I keep a kit in my truck with a small 12V air compressor, various size pliers to pull out nails/etc, and the plug kit.

I buy plugs at Northern Tools. Good kit from them also. Drive hunting truck to ranch in Mexico with load range E All Terrain Goodrich tires. Lots of mesquite, thorns, and sticks. If a puncture the plugs are badass. If a rock puncture it is iffy. Put 3 plugs in once in the shoulder transition and made it back home. Had a decent leak that required me to top up about once an hour. I always have a 12V compressor.
Not sure what a heavy duty plug would be like or if they are any different from any quality plug. Interested to see what people recommend in this thread.

Sometimes the reamer tool doesnt do a good enough job and Ive had some of the plugs not catch and take properly in small holes. Feels weird to drill a tire but I do it all the time now.

You can cut the handle off the reamer and chuck the tool into the drill and let it eat.

I’ve also had plugs go for basically the life of a tire. Never once have I had a plug taken out and patched like recommended.

I’ve seen them hold on a race track too. Don’t recommend this but they won’t fail at high speed+temp.

I bought a pipe steel handle reamer and plug punch combo at my local co-op. Don't have to sweat running anything through my hand but honestly I keep a cordless drill and bit set in the toolbox and that gets used 100% of the time
