re: Harassment on a Local Lake

It's a completely different thing. I'm not saying I agree with it but it's the way it is. I've heard stories of guns being pulled out there in the south flats over tops. I've heard of many fishing partners splitting up over disagreements about tops in the South flats. I've been strongly advised not to fool with the flats bc it's too much drama.
I know you only have a bass boat. Get a tarp, put it over the carpet in your boat, get some cedars, christmas tress, willows, or water oaks and go sink them in the middle-northern part of the lake. No one will find them there and you wont have to deal with all the bullshite that occurs in the south flats.

personal carry, don't drink or bring ANY alcohol on the boat, and get a gopro camera. Record this guy being crazy and bring it to the authorities if you do that route.

I have a camp and dock.
Sunk some brush piles over the years.
There was a 5 lber under my dock a few years ago. I couldn’t catch it. Some young adults came one morning and caught the fish.
I was impressed with one of the guys ability to skip docks.
We talked about their skipping docks technique. They let me on their boat and showed me how to skip docks.
If someone catches fish off a pile I put down, hey that is great.
It is public water at the end of the day.

If I were anywhere near Louisiana, I'd go to False River and post up on those tops my damn self.
I fricking hate these "unwritten rules" when it comes to public land. I'm not scared to get in a little confrontation.

That place is close to a large metropolitan area and a lot of people fish it.
The local morons who don’t seem to understand that it is public waters.
They don’t understand.
1)High amount of usage on this waterway.
2) Not a lot of water.
3) Today’s electronics make it easier to find brush piles.
If you don’t want people fishing your brush pile then do not put one out.
Same cr&p goes on at Toledo Bend.
That is a huge body of water.

I swear people in LA have a harder time understanding this than other places. I hear so many stories of whackos trying to claim public land as theirs and I haven’t lived in the state in a decade

Just checking in.. This thread did not go the way I thought it would when I first read the OP. I've never fished false river but people on Toledo and Rayburn are the same. They protect the shite out of their piles. I've heard many stories.
Hell, salt water is not much better.. the guides at big lake will try to run you off a reef if you let em...

OP...the LDWF guys that patrol False River are pretty nice but if you have any contacts at PC Sheriff's department then start with them as they will get LDWF to respond quicker...they all know each other.

My only question is why have you not already called the law?
Posted on 1/23/23 at 3:53 pm to John_V
Invite an LDWF agent fishing for the morning and take him straight to that spot.

Brushpile claimers are less popular on the OB than dog hunters!

Gotta put brush on top of his brush until it sticks out the water. Then put a "TigerDroppings Members Only" sign on top

I may kayak out there and do just that. Funny shite.

Not yet. Was trying to hold off on escalating the situation, but if I want to keep fishing the area probably the only next step

Funniest thing I have seen is where one guy will add to a brush pile one day.
The next day someone else adds brush to that same pile.
Ended up being two different people. They would always get mad at each other thinking one person is stealing the other persons brush pile.

I’ve heard of lessons being taught to assholes by way of some razor wire being dropped in to the brush piles. He’ll cut his line every time he tries setting the hook on a fish.

One of the positives of livescope-I never actually enter the piles anymore. I rarely get hung, and when I do, I was taking an unnecessary chance.

Drop a few anchors off the back in spread formation and drive across said piles. Continue in a direction of your choice for a couple hundred yards. Turn around and repeat process in opposite direction for good measure.
