Is annoying to me. Don't get me wrong. I love to drink beers while cleaning fish, bullshitting, etc. A buddy is always asking me to take him and I make excuses. He listerally pounds 8 beers before we even get to the launch. He's wasted by 12 pm. Anyone have a buddy like that they avoid on the boat??

Stop taking him. Life is too short to put up with that kind of bullshite.

This is coming from someone who enjoys beers on the boat.

Depends. One time I told him meet me for 5:30 at the house. He shows up at 5 and chilling in his truck. I walk out to hitch the boat and he's on the tailgate drinking. I walk up and there's 2 empty cans. By the time we drive to the launch he's had 6 beers.

You really need to be selective with fishing partners, kinda hard to get away from “that guy” on a boat. I get out so little, I’m pretty selective or will just go solo.

Well at least he's prompt. That's worth something.

I’d rather go fishing with your buddy than you.

But does he catch fish? If so just let him keep drinking and enjoy the extra fish!

I like to drink and all, but getting wasted on a bay boat while fishing is not in my deck of cards. I don't mind doing it on a big boat with a cabin, but couldn't put up with it on a smaller one.

Maybe tell him he gets too shitfaced when yall go, so it isn't fun for you. He'll either be offended and not go, or see the light, and chill out.

Or he might have a legit problem with alcohol. Might check into that too

Well... He is better than the guy that never shows up.

Does he tie his own knots, bait his own hooks, net a fish if needed, and pay for some gas? If so I would quit bitchin. If not cut em loose

He's a dead shrimp kind of guy. I fish artificial 99% of the time. I don't care what he fishes with. He occasionally pays for fuel, but never offfers. I just assume I'm paying and if he contributes so be it. My problem is he passes out on the boat, acts like a jack arse as we are picking up the boat, etc. while he is usually prompt he's also not shown up and passed out from drinking all night when I could have asked someone else to go.
