Everyone talks about how great grand isle is, I’ve been once with my step son and it’s such a trashy arse place
When was this? Grand isle got a lot of money since Ida.

i also wonder if the toll is until it's paid off or it will just be there forever

it was sarcasm. i remember they stopped the toll on sunshine bridge then started it up again, if i recall correctly, then stopped tolls again

how much did the bridge cost?
how many federal dollars were used?
how long are the tolls to last?
I posted this earlier in the thread.
There's a daily average of 1200 trucks that drive the elevated expressway traveling to Fourchon/GI. Total cost for phase I was $371m, with $225m from federal funding along with State and local bonds at $146m. Annual revenue just from commercial trucking is +/- $9.5m. The expressway has been open for 16 years.
Knowing the great state of Louisiana, the tolls will last indefinitely...

Bingo.
Dig into the Causeway bridge finances. I think read not long ago that they don’t really care much about paying down the debt. They just constantly refinance it.

Sorry that the rest of us didn't subsidize your fishing trip. Seriously, though, when the citizens of this state routinely reject increases to the fuel tax, you end up needing tolls to finance major projects.

How many phases are being built, though?

I stand by my statement that property owners south of the bridge should be exempt from tolls
That's bullshite. Are you a socialist? I'd be okay with it, but only if they paid a property tax millage instead.

A regular pick-up or car pulling a 20’ boat is $21.90. That is literally highway robbery.
Thanks for reminding me. I was toiling with the idea of making a trip down there since I haven't been in years.
Think I'll find another spot.

In theory, ongoing tolls should be used for maintenance and to help pay for the eventual replacement bridge.
ETA - I am not familiar with this particular bridge.

It does suck, but LA has very few tolls....
This is true.
Florida and Texas gig you for everyday driving.

Technically it is not the "Grand Isle" bridge but the Fourchon bridge. I believe it is called "The Gateway to the Gulf". The bridge to get on to Grand Isle from the Chenier is free.

Easy fix. Don't go. More room for me to park.

Are you retarded? All property owners in Jefferson Parish pay property taxes based upon Millages, both parish and municipal.
