I’ve got a place in South Texas. I could have shot a couple off the front porch over the years and sometimes I’ve caught them in cow pens.

It’s delicious the same way that coon, nutria, and snow geese are delicious.

I'll back this up.

Nilgai is terrible.

I prefer Nilgai over whitetail. How many times have you had it?

Same. I’ve got a freezer full of nilgai meat and making some nilgai chili this weekend

Had nilgai spaghetti, sausage and tacos in the past month or so. Fine eating.

My dad and his buddies harvested three last month. I’m hopefully going down sometime early 25

Rize, if you have other good recipes in preparation. I’m all ears

GTF out of here with this. He’s a great guy who has a low fenced place in South Texas who has worked his arse off to get what he has. He’s taken several OBer’s over the years with him.

My intention wasn't to be negative but rather just a LOL jab. Hell, he might own half of S. TX and I'm happy for him. I'd enjoy just seeing pics of the ranch. My FiL is from E. TX which is basically W. LA.

A lot of them are in low fenced area. They’re still very difficult to kill, more difficult than whitetail bc their vision is exceptional. They also only feed on a bush tree or alfalfa and most ranches keep the alfalfa away bc they have cattle on there too. So, no corn or supplemental.

low fence, free range which Rize has been managing for 10+ years. He posts pics all the time of quality deer 130"-160" which he passes on, letting them grow another year. Very selective of what is harvested so the deer can get bigger and more mature. His property resembles the pics below.

yes, in Texas you're only allowed to shoot 2 javelina per year. Social animals that are cool to watch, observe while in the stand

Nilgai are feral in south Texas and the internet says the wild population in S Texas is around 30k.
They can’t really spread further than S Texas bc they wouldn’t survive the winters.

They can't breed. Different species/family or whatever they call it.

yea, it’s the perfect environment for them and no natural predators like they have in their native India. They are the bengal tigers favorite meal there
