There’s a million different brands on Amazon. My 6 month old puppy has bad food aggression and I’m trying to end it asap.
I know a lot of people are against them but after talking to different trainers and watching videos I’m convinced it’s the way to go

If you don't need GPS, which it doesn't sound like you do look at Dogtra. I have used their collars for 20 years with no issues.

I have had the sport dog and I now have the Garmin Ultra Pro. Much rather the Garmin due to u can actually take it apart and change batteries and stuff the sport dog once it goes out u can’t fix it.

Do y’all consistently use it or pretty much once you have them trained you don’t need it anymore?

Dogtra or Educator collars. You need to spend a little here to get something decent; don't bother with the $100 ones.

If you've got a stubborn dog there's nothing better in the world, although they can become collar smart. I've taken the probes off before just to have her wear it all day every day without getting hot spots on her neck.

+1 on dogtra.
With our golden retriever, we only used it for a few months during initial training, then didn’t need it. We got lazy with training for a while (don’t do that!) and she started acting up again. We started using it again, and she started listening better. I call it her “dog be good” collar. All we have to do is put it on, no shocks, and she behaves better.

Dog (8 year old yellow male Lab) was trained with it and use it mostly for when we hunting. Sometimes I have to Nick him when he won’t take the cast. He knows when he has it on it work time and he flips the switch.

My buddy has the dogtra and it’s a great unit.

I always put the collar on but the dog has gotten to the point that if I even grab the remote it immediately obeys. Haven’t had to shock the dog in over a year, only have to vibrate the collar occasionally. Dog is 2.5 years old.

Absolutely. With enough voltage, you can teach pup to play the piano. My preference is Garmin, btw…

shite my bulldog didn't do anything but stand up straight and perk up her ears. I was trying to train her not to run my cattle. I'd lay on that thing at max strength, shed stop and shrug it off and keep trying to bite their heels and tails.

Eventually she grew out of it.

Pet Inner, I think from Amazon is what we’ve been using for about 4 years. It has a beep, vibrate, and shock options. The vibrate and shock levels go from 1-100 on the remote. I’ve only had to shock our largest dog which is over 80 pounds twice in the 4 years, which was set at a level of 88 and I did put it on my leg and shock myself before putting it on them. At 6 months old beeping or vibrating plus verbal commands would probably do the trick without even thinking about a shock. We have a 6 month old dachshund and beeping him was all it took, staring it early is the key.

I use and have always used Sportdog. I think the current one i have is the 1825x which has a 1 mile range.
I’ve heard good things about Garmin.
Next one will be a Garmin Alpha 300i handheld with a Garmin tt25 collar.
