They are getting out of control. Done used just about everything off the shelf. Happens every year due to the farm land around me.

So, what you find the kills them? Tired of them suckers moving over 5' from were I had treated them.

Never had a colony survive a tablespoon or three of Ortho Orthene.

I now have about 5 ac's clear. Only need to treat about 3 ac's. Don't want anything that could get into my pond.

12 ga at point blank range is satisfying as hell. not that it's highly effective on getting them damn things outa' the yard but its fun.
all bs aside, i have mixed ortho into winterizer and been successful

Try Orthene if your worried about the pond and don't mind treating individual hills. Use sparingly. I got tired of Amdro and switched to Orthene. Treating an acre of yard and 3 acres of buffer.

Research orange oil and molasses mixture, a organic way to kill them that won’t poison the yard

There is some stuff called top choice that is made for fire ants. It’s a granular product that will absolutely wipe them out.

Biggest issue is that it’s expensive and a bit hard to find.

That's what I recommended too, but not sure about it's effects on a pond.
