Where is this disdain you speak of?

The trigger pull on a glock with that little safety tab and my S&W 686 is drastically different
But you already knew that
You aren't going to accidentally set off my DA .357 with a trigger tap
ETA, I meant my old 686 I had before the boating accident

You wont find a beretta at that amount of rounds without one problem...be it ftf or ejection issue.
Not true. My 92fs has 7k rounds through it without a malfunction.

Not to nitpick...but I did say EIGHT thousand
If your beretta makes it snother 1k flawlessly...I will retract my previous statement
I admit to splitting hairs about the DA revolver, but... I havr never accidentally fired any gun. Follow the simple rules of firearms and it is a non issue.
I due prefer a DA for true CQ self defense for the simple reason it csnt be forced out of battery.
However, as Ive told brapple, in the last 8k rounds...Ive come to trust my glock, as Im sure each of us has come to trust our respective choices.
To each his own, but I have never seen a failure to fire, feed, or eject on any properly held glock, smith m&p, or xd. I cannot say the same for the kahrs...cz...walthers...berettas...or stock 1911s that have been brought to the range.
That said, anyone who insults the design of the great and holy John Moses Browning is a communist and perhaps terrorist.
Carry on sirs.

Good idea. After you make a purchase, get some training.

im just gonna tell the person working what i look for in a gun and try 5 of them because i think they charge $10.00 per rental at Jefferson Gun Outlet in metairie

That's an even better course of action than just holding a pistol at the store. It'll give you an idea of what feels best for you and is the best shooter. I would also ask if one of the guys behind the counter could give you some instruction when you start.
And after you make your purchase, get some training as someone suggested. Most guys here have been around firearms their whole lives from hunting and such but for someone new there are lots of little things that can be forgotten. You need some guidance to help reinforce this if you haven't learned it at a young age. Training is important.

Here is what you need to look at seeing that you picked the glock and the storm from the start
GLOCK 19 or 17
PX4 storm
Springfield XDm
Smith and Wesson M&P
And maybe either a ruger SR9
Or a walther PPQ
just my opinion. Be aware though that the PX4 is the only one of those with a hammer and is DA/SA
I'm huge fan of the Springfield XDm. Trigger safety like the glock, but also has a 1911 style grip safety, a round chambered indicator like the RUGER and even has a cocked/ready to fire indicator.

Glock has a chamber indicator as well if that matters to you.

Debatable lol
It is pretty easy to overlook honestly.
The Springfield is clear

Why not try some metal guns like 1911, cz75, or beretta 92?

My PPQ-M2 has probably 3k rounds through it without even a blip, except for when my gf limp-wristed it when brand new
