Decided to head out in bad seas in Key West Sunday to chase the elusive Tarpon, a bucket list of a fish.

High winds kept the captain at the dock Friday & Saturday. Finally catch a break on Sunday Morning and find 'em rolling. Hundreds of Tarpon rolling all around us.

Zero, zilch, not a bite. Is there anything more pissing off than breaking off the cash for a charter after getting skunked.

Capt put my brother on a few sharks, but otherwise an absolute bust of a trip.

It's called fishing, not catching...

But yeah, that sucks.

If you were fly fishing, then it's ok to get skunked. If you were chunking bait, shame on you.

so now we pass all blame on the trebel hook for getting skunked on chartered trips. Let me ask you this, who supplied said trebel hooks for said trips.

If he brought you to a school of hundreds of tarpon, and you didn't catch one, I wouldn't advertise that too much.

Yeah tarpon are finicky as all get out. Doesn't surprise me one bit. That's an easy fish (especially on a fly) to see all day and not get bit.

A discount would have been a nice gesture on his part, but if he put you in/around tarpon, sometimes that's all you can do. Sometimes the fish don't want to eat, other times it takes a master fly fisherman with lots of tarpon experience to get bit. Sucks but that's the nature of those fish.

Just FWIW: Rolling tarpon are generally NOT feeding tarpon.

The whole marina skunked.

They are fickle beasts and a North wind will shut them down.

Showed up real early this year, Boca Grande is going to be crazy soon.

This guy knows what's up.

It ain't like put us on a school of trout under birds.

There were probably over 2000 tarpon in about 5 acre area where we were drifting. It's worth the price of admission to see them.

It's just tough to cut the check at the end of the day. I need a scale bad.

Even the snapper had shut down.

If he brought you to the fish, and the almighty OB says those fish aren't feeding and won't bite, what the mother frick do you want the guide to do?
