He was at the lake camping and got struck on his foot. Had to be transported to another hospital due to the first one being out of anti venom. He’s fine and already back at the lake.

Nice toenails.

He said the right foot. I’m assuming it had to be close to the big toe? Maybe that’s why it looks jacked up? Lol I know it’s a whole lot bigger than the left foot.

Gotta quit biting those toenails.

I am surprised his fangs were able to penetrate the toe nail

He never actually said where he got bit on the foot. But I’m gonna say the big toe, only because it looks awful. Give him some kind of credit for the jacked up nail.

Dang. Snake might've done him a favor if they had amputated.

Those feet have more problems than a little snake bite.

He wasn’t the only one that got popped yesterday. Someone else got popped by a small rattler

he should ask for some fungicide mixed in with the antivenin
that’s disgusting
that’s disgusting

1. We didn’t need the feet pic.
2. Why does it seem like hospitals are routinely running out of anti venom?

it’s very perishable and very expensive.
real antivenin is made from venom milked from a snake, and is species specific for the most part. There’s a worldwide shortage
synthetic antivenin is still not there yet

I stepped out on my front porch Friday night and nearly stepped on copperhead, scared the crap out of me.I’m not really afraid of snakes if I see them from reasonable distance(10 feet) but I hate to be surprised by them.Killed him but didn’t take picture.
As far as anti venom,I don’t think any hospital stocks but minimal amount because of cost. When I was working and ER got snakebite venom,State Police would make high speed runs bringing anti venom from hospitals all over the state.

1+. In addition, due to those factors, many smaller hospitals just keep enough in stock for an initial dose. If more doses are needed, they'll transfer the patient or get more doses from nearby hospitals. In addition, insurance companies have been known to refuse paying the hospital for the antivenin, especially for for copperhead bites. There's much controversy regarding use of antivenin for copperhead bites since copperhead bites are normally not as severe as rattlesnake and cottonmouth bites.

I bet someone saw it a few days ago and let it live

Did the snake take a bite out of the toe nail?

I understood both of these before I asked the question, I still don’t understand why. Country Labor is cheap, someone can’t open up a snake venom place in the middle of New Mexico or Mississippi? If it’s expensive and in high demand and perishable seems like a business opportunity.
