Anyone planting before this rain?

We are holding off in Madison Parish. Still scared of the army worms!

Mine are ready in Morehouse but I don't think this will be enough rain to make a real difference.

I need to plant this weekend, looking like in the rain.
Anyone ever done that before

Besides being a mess any other issues

Army worms are eating up, it hasn’t been cold enough to kill em off yet

Yea. I'm disked and ready in Tensas, but think I'll wait a weekend or two.

I threw seed on 3 plots then bush hogged, didn’t even spray in hopes of rain this weekend.

Have 7 more plots to plant.

Yep, sitting in the porch at the camp waiting on my buddy to show up with the seed. We always plant last week of sept or the first week of October depending on rain and schedules. Fingers crossed I have never had a problem with worms the last 10-15yrs following that planting window.

I’m in Area 4.

All plots are chopped and ready for fertilizer/seed. We decided to not plant before this round of rain. Will hold off until we get more consistent rain fronts and the temps aren’t in the 90s

I may throw out some seed in my newly cleared field on Friday.

it likely won't do well but going to try it and see. I don't have the time currently to do too much. I need to get down there and a lot more work to get it cleaned up but going to try and see how it does.

I'm planning on planting 4 plots this weekend. I have a buddy that tills my plot at the club I'm in and he said he'll have his tractor up there this weekend rain or shine.

The other 3 I still have to disk with ATV disks, and it takes a bunch of passes to chop the ground up good. That ought to be fun in the rain.

Our plots in central MS are all chopped and ready, but not even sure 2-3 days of rain will make the soil moist. Bone dry. The Pearl is the lowest I’ve seen it in the 15+ years I’ve been hunting up there.

Southern MS and LA are getting rain this weekend. How much will be location dependent but since we are in October, probably a good time to get the seed out. Who knows when it will rain again. I rolled the dice and did mine a few weeks ago. Luckily got rain about a week later. Need more though. Putting out nitrogen Friday before the rain gets here.
