Shot a buck one time and immediately called my dad and told him it was a monster. He came to help me find it and it was a 4 point. Happens to everyone man. Congrats on the meat

Hmm lets see, first deer and with your boy. I would have shot even if it had spots. Like everyone else said congrats, neither one of you will ever forget this one. And man is it ever going to be tender. Congrats man be proud.

Man, I shot a button buck in the exact same situation on Sunday. I don't deer hunt much, and couldn't tell the difference. It was by itself and was 5:20 pm getting dark. I felt horrible, but I have meat in the freezer. Congrats on your deer man. People make the mistake everyday.

If I'm gonna shoot a doe, I'd rather a 65-75lb one. They are sooooo tasty.

Just make sure you see em piss before you shoot em so you know it's not a nubbin buck

First one its alright to take a young one as long as the thing isnt still spotted. The more you hunt the more you wait on that big one. Its hard to not want to shoot the first few times you see one.

Wrong! Take up offshore fishing and then tell what cost more.

Congrads to the OP.

This.
My father in law has reels that cost more than his guns.

Now let's not get into all the equipment and focus on single trip expenses. Just the bait and gas costs more than a hunting trip. Not to mention a boat and all that comes with it.
