There are 23 million Floridians. They’ll die from all sorts of things. To answer the title, we won’t see deaths in Louisiana from bears.

I mean there’s a reason why they went extinct in the first place
To my knowledge, black bears have never been extinct.

because they fear/respect man.

it aint just Florida. People are too tolerant of their presence here too. Thin them out.

I have to disagree with you here.
It’s only a matter of time before someone is mauled by a bear here.
It’s not common knowledge, but the LDWF has there biologist and others go to meetings with other states wildlife and fisheries to know how to handle and basically run forsenics in the event of a bear attack.
We have had several close encounters that were way to close to for comfort.
I hope I’m wrong but it’s only a matter of time

If bears were extremely dangerous and attacks were common, people would never vacation in Pigeon Forge.

Florida also had a gator attack death yesterday or today.

I’m in St. Augustine with my family a lot. I’m going to use this as an excuse to buy a 10mm.

Not sure if it’s true or not, but Bob Robb, well known outdoor writer and Kodiak Island bear guide once told me that a black bear will attack a human just as quickly as a Brown, Grizzly or Kodiak.

Louisiana hunters is doing everything they can to argue we need to kill bears

I'd also be willing to be there is more to the story. Bear attacks (both brown and black bears) are pretty rare. The majority of attacks happen when someone comes across a bear with cubs, gets too close to a bears food source, or scares an unsuspecting bear.
If the bear actually went into his camper and ransacked it like the article says then the man likely left the doors open and the bear went in looking for food. If you're in bear country all food sources should be secure (this includes entry into your home). I'm not blaming the man here, I'm just saying the bear likely didn't hunt him down for food.
Most animal attacks wouldn't occur if people would just use common sense and understand that the world isn't one big petting zoo. I've seen people taking selfies with bison, moose, and surrounding brown bears (with cubs) just to get a picture with their cell phones. I'm not saying that this was the case in this situation, but a large part of wild animal attacks are due to people being stupid.

I was told the same thing when I used to hunt up in the northern Rockies.

You know I agree. It's like the end of the movie The Grey where Liam Neeson, he wraps the glass around his hands and squares up.

It always blows my mind how many "outdoorsman" are such pussies when it comes to predators being in the same general location as them. People die every single day in ridiculous ways, one 89 year old guy getting killed is unfortunate but isn't proof of anything.
I thoroughly enjoy being in the woods with things that are dangerous, it makes the experience that much more exciting. Drunk/bad drivers are infinitely more dangerous to every single person here but you have no problem getting in your truck every single day.
Bears are cool and I am glad they're back. I do agree with you on people feeding them, they need to hand out stiff fines for that kind of stuff.

Bob Robb would be wrong. Fatal griz attacks are higher than black bear attacks. And there’s far more black bears.
