Anyone running this F150 engine? Gas-Electric combined.

$2000ish upgrade over other engine options. MPG 25/24. HP 430 570 lb-ft

I have one. Ask me anything.

Here is a picture of the actual MPG I have gotten since I have owned it. I commute ~75 miles a day in it. So I would think the 25/24 MPG listed is not accurate.

My FIL just replaced his 2019 3.5 Ecoboost with a 2021 Powerboost. It will run circles around his old truck. No idea on mileage, it only has 500 miles on it so far, and I dont help the average at all.

It will outrun my MILs (no pics) 6.2 Caddy.

When the truck switches from electric to gas underway, it is similar to the Autostop/start annoyance?

Does it have a warning beep in electric mode while in reverse?

The only time I notice it switching is when I am at low speeds. Even then it is only engine noise. It's pretty seamless due to the battery powering/moving the truck.

The bigger annoyance is the transmission at low speeds. Between 15-20 MPH it's very jerky and makes a very loud THUNK when trying to find the right gear.

Yes the reverse sounder is one of my biggest annoyances. It's very loud and annoying. I will probably add some sound deadening material over the speaker. People always look when they hear it.

Memorial Day 2019, I bought a new 2019 LWB F-150 XLT w/the 5.0 V-8. It now has ~16k miles of highway and around town driving (including towing a boat) and I am averaging just over 20 mpg on 87 octane regular - not sure why anyone would spend the $$ for turbo or hybrid anything - the cost and added complexity (maintenance, etc.) compared to the reliability and effortless power of a normally aspirated V-8 does not make sense to me.

2017 XLT 5.0 averaging about 18 mpg. Drive about 60 miles per day mix of highway and city. The Evangeline Thruway really hurts my average.

For me the Powerboost is doing exactly what I want it to do. I have the 7.2 KW Pro Power on board that isn't available on any other model and it is well worth the added cost. I wont get into the MPG talk because it's not worth it.

During Ida it was our generator for 5 days and I used just barely over a half of tank of gas. It was used to power a 110 AC unit, TVs, small fridge, the home internet and numerous lamps. I have a electrician that I have been working with on figuring out how to wire up a manual transfer switch to feed the main AC panel in the house for the next time.

I use the Pro Power on board at the camp in Mississippi to power most of the camps electrical needs. Its not much but as of now all I do is roll up, plug in a few cords and I have all the power I need for the weekend.

I always hear things like added complexity, maintenance long term effects, reliability etc and just brush it off. I have been driving turbos for 15 years and I just don't see what people refer to when they bring all of that up.

To me the F150 Powerboost is an amazing option and Ford gets an 8.5 out of 10 from me. The only reason it doesn't get a 10/10 is because I want a bigger hybrid battery and I want to control when I drive on battery vs gas. I think the Jeep 4xE system is a much more interesting hybrid and I wish the F150 had that hybrid implementation.

Oh BTW its fast, really fast.

Running a 3.5 Eco on current truck (cam phaser saga). My two previous trucks ran the 5.0 with 475,000 miles with no major engine repairs.

Practicality says go back to 5.0

Crappy engines exist on all configurations. 5.4 Triton(gas), 6.0 Powerstroke(diesel), 1.6 and 2.0 Ecoboost(gas) are all TERRIBLE engines.

Don't let one experience ruin you on a great powerplant.

I would say the 5.0 Coyote(Mustang), F150 3.5 Eco & Powerboost and 2.3 Eco boost in the Ranger are all fantastic engines.

Dumb question. Is that 20 mpg when the gas motor is engaged only, or 20 mpg for all miles driven?

Not a dumb question at all. The battery miles are not used in the MPG calculation. I know this because if you hand calculate the MPG at the pump the calculation is less than 1 MPG off what the truck reports as the MPG.

What is faster the power boost or lightning? 570 troque is crazy. The 7.3 gas f250 has less?

Interesting. The 5.0 needs 3.73 gears to spin up rpms right and Ford never used it much.

Still loving my 6.7 here. Slow but steady.

I had a 2016 F150 5.0 and would get about 18 MPG combined.

I now have a 21 Tundra with the 5.7, and I'm getting 16 combined.
