F-one fiddy questions for you baws

Last year i traded in my 16 lariat for a tacoma. Well i have decided i want another F-150. The tacoma is a great truck, i just need something bigger for my family at this moment. I've had two F-150's in the past both with the 5.0.
My question for the F-150 owners here is which engine to go with? I do have a 19' boat that weights about 4,000 fully loaded. Other than that she will be my everyday going back and fourth pavement queen. Is the 2.7 any good? I had zero issues with the 5.0's i had in the past, i am just curious about the other engine options that are currently available.

I've had the 3.5 EB and now have the 3.0 PS Diesel. If I were to order another truck today it would be another 3.0 PS.
The heaviest thing I pull is my tractor (~7000# including trailer) and it does it just as well as the 3.5 and 25-26 (empty) ain't bad either.

Why not a Tundra?

I have liked my 2.7 a lot. Only thing I tow is my duck boat. Have towed my dad's 24' tri-toon easily a few times, but not very far. He lives only about 5 miles from the launch. Had no issues.

My wife has a 19 F150 FX4 with the 5.0
No complaints on power for sure. It gets good mileage...20.5-21 if you keep your foot out it. It pulls my small trailer with UTV on it fine. I wouldn’t want to pull the tractor with it. I’m sure it could but there are better options for that.

Got a 2019 tundra, love it.
Had 2016 sierra, and 2014 silverado before. Love them also
While tundra is a great truck, hauls like its nothing... the one downfall for some is mpg... for me. Idc, i work 10min from home. And take wifes car for long trips. But if fuel mileage is a concern, this is where the tundra falls way short of the chevy/fords in that size

Hopefully they cure that problem for the next gen tundras

I have 2019 Lariat 4x4. The 3.5 Eco Boost pulls my 21' Skeeter like it's not there, runs like a scalded dog and gets 19mpg as a daily driver and 20+ on the highway. Did I mention the back seat is large and if you flip it up your kids can play dodge ball or soccer on those long trips.

I have an '18 Tundra. Had a rental F150 while mine was getting a new tailgate and I've always been a Ford guy, but those mirrors in the F150 were terrible. I couldn't buy one just from the mirrors. One other thing I love about my Tundra is the 38 gallon fuel tank. Granted, I think Ford does a 36 and if you get a mpg or two better it's equal. But, multiple trips we have been on that fuel tank has made it nice.

18 with 3.5 that I am very happy with, sport mode turns it into a Chevy/Dodge/Yota killer.

I've had the 5.0, 3.5 and 2.7. I prefer the 3.5 EcoBoost.

Had a 2015 3.5 ecoboost, and now have a 2019 5.0. This generation of the 5.0 is hard to beat. Much more power than the previous 5.0.
My old boss had a 2.7 ecoboost and it had a lot of pick up. Sounds like a toy though.

Definitely, hopefully they can fix this with their new engine.

5.0. Gas is going to be cheap for awhile. No point to the eco engines now.

I traded in my Tacoma a few months ago for a 2017 Lariat 4x4. Dealer looked at me like I was nuts, apparently that doesn't happen often lol. No complaints with Toyota, just love the F-150s and always wanted one.
The ecoboost 3.5 is a great engine. Smooth ride, pulls trailers very easily, and gets after it when you floor it. Favorite vehicle I've owned thus far.

Just curious what the general life expectancy of this motor is? I bought my former work ride outright from my former boss when he decided to retire. It's a '17 F-150 XLT 4X4 with the 3.5 and I just rolled 80K. Came from a Tundra that had 150K and was still purring like a kitten. I really like the Ford and obviously the 3.5 has an arse laod of power but hear the horror stories about these motors crapping out early.

I've got an 18' 4dr 4wd with the 2.7 in it. It pulls my crew cab 1000xp ranger and my boat with ease. I've been well satisfied with it

Do not get anything besides a V8 in a gas vehicle. The smaller engines will wear out faster.

Definitely go with the 5.0. Especially after you level it, slap some Nitto mudders on it and shine headlights in the trees.
Like FOBW said, gas is cheap.
