You dont need to spend 20 grand. Mine was 9500 brand new. Have 8400 miles on it and only changed my battery and belt.
Of course it's more for recreation than work but you can fit a deer or ice chest in the back and I have pulled it to matagorda beach and strapped the yak to the roof to go beach camping.
PS please dont make fun of my 500$ a month rental in bumfrick PA. That house was awesome. No neighbors and a creek with a dam to fish just down the hill.

Besides being great for hunting we take our kids + dogs for rides through the neighborhood. Probably 15 other houses in our neighborhood have side by sides or golf carts sitting in the garage.

If you have the money and you want to buy a sxs just to sit in the garage and stare at it. By all means do so.
What drives up the price is that people don’t have the money but can get them anyway because of laughable financing terms.

And all the extras that come on them. Cheaper ones are out there but nobody wants to drive the old JD Gator without suspension. Start upgrading and before long you spent a few thousand extra.

I don’t get the utility vehicle/ golf cart thing in general. I can’t stand the frickers putting 8 kinds on a 4 seat golf cart and driving down a beach road next to a F250. I get it’s easier for short drives, but should be fricking illegal. One fender bender and you have 6 people in the hospital and likely multiple dead.
As said though, rednecks have been buying absurdly priced toys since the beginning of time and the expensive SxS’s are usually bought by wealthy land owners that barely look at the price.

Yall see these rentals around beach towns lately? Saw 2 of these in MS when we went visit my grandma yesterday. People riding them on 90 in gulfport. Looks like a death trap to me.
Also saw at least 6 or 7 people digging themselves out the sand. Laughed pretty hard at those people

Yeah, but I mean these things are light weight and could probably be snatched out of anything with a come-along... or just a cheap winch.
What they can't roll (stock-wise) over they can easily be manually moved out of a bad spot.
Granted, many of the kids that own these things absolutely destroy/abuse them. The problem for me with them is finding a reliable used one. You're essentially forced to buy new unless you are 100% certain who it came from and what it was used for.
