For the 5 years I was at LSU I barely hunted or fished at all, now I making up for some lost time.

Several friends are saying that I should come back and tailgate and say F hunting on opening weekend. Mainly one that moved to Miami and is flying home for this; although he is an avid hunter too and said he completely understands.

I live in Houston, and am heading down to the lease this weekend to do the last hurrah for dove hunting and try to catch some fish. Let's say the number of ducks looks real promising this weekend, and the forecast next weekend sticks and we have a front moving through at some point that weekend....

What would you do?

All depends on the ducks, if you are seeing a bunch I would say go hunting for sure! Not so many ducks maybe could wait until second split. Go scout a few days before and see what happens

The teal hunting was great for early season. 18 birds on 5 hunts for me. So I know the potential. But yes I agree, if it doesnt look promising I will go to BR.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but I'm glad there is a place I can discuss my obsession and I'm well understood. My GF is starting to think I'm insane. She just doesnt understand how mad I am at the ducks and the fish!

You ain't going to kill ducks at a tailgaiting. But we will play Bama again here in two years.

Game. It is going to be nuts and I made the decision earlier in the year that this is the one game of the season where football takes priority over fishing/hunting.

This tells me bunches about the posters that are saying they are undecided or would probably go to the game. To each his own but I prefer the enviroment of the woods and waters much more than concrete and steel. I am not big on football since I quit playing and maybe that is the difference. I always liked football but my love for duck hunting is without question. I would rather hang out with my dogs at the camp just scouting around for ducks than attend the game with a guarantee of a 21 point win over bama.

Agreed! I live in the concrete jungle that is Houston, and I dont think there is anything more therapeutic to my psyche than pissing outdoors for an entire weekend.

I'm going to game vs hunting but I have tickets. Just tailgating I'd go hunting, any game but Bama would sell tickets for opening weekend.

I'm hunting in thornwell, just south of welsh. My buddy went out there yesterday & saw a few small slocks of specks flying. He said he was looking at the blinds on our lease & a big group of about 80 teal landed right next to one of our blinds.
