If you like to drink while hunting, drink.
If you dont, then dont.

On private land sure. I have plenty of times. On public land I wouldnt recommend it. You shoot a big buck and a few minutes later someone else shoots the same one, there will probably be problems. I wouldnt chance it there.

I've never done it. I have no desire to do it. Would just make me need to pee. I see no reason for it.

...not to mention I bow hunt out of a climber on public land

B.S. I suppose a six pack doesn't affect your driving either.

let's say an average afternoon hunt is around 4 hours.....

a 6 pack over 4 hours isn't going to affect anyone who drinks regularly

I bring beer to the stand. key move is to open them all as soon as you get to the stand in order to avoid noise later

You don't think you can compare shooting a gun while drinking and driving while drinking?

You should think long and hard about that shite next time you're writing someone up for DUI.

In the mean time, go head an drink away. The people and animals around you do not deserve your full attention.

Wait until a game warden finds you in a stand hunting and drinking. Have a friend still fighting the fist full of tickets he got last year. Granted he was drunk

I have a cool camo ice chest backpack. It makes it real easy to carry cold beverages to and from stand.

Threads like these make me wonder how many people here actually know much about private land hunting/ hunting clubs. Seems like there are lots who just read about hunting and maybe go bombard a WMA a couple times a year. If you're a grown man and can't sit in a box stand and sip a few cold ones, or sit on a dove stool and sip a few cold ones, without endangering yourself or others than I agree that you shouldn't do it. Leave it to those who can.

Never have, never will. The two just don't go together the way I hunt. Besides, the post hunt beer is one of my favorite beers ever.

The last club I was in did not allow beer on the property anyway

I'm definitely aware of hunting on private land and camp life

I'm not 100% against it, just don't try to justify it away by saying its different than doing other activities while drinking

most of us can probably drink a 6 pack and drive home without killing ourselves or others

I've had 3 or 4 beers in a box stand before, but never gotten drunk. And never by myself. It's typically just a social hunt in a 4x8 box stand where we bring a gun just in case a monster steps out. In fact, I don't know if I've been on any other type of hunt in the last 5 years . I've converted to a drinking on the back porch at the camp kind of hunter.

Now, I've felt uncomfortable dove hunting before where I picked up my gun and moved to the back. We were not seeing any birds and it was hot, so the beer was flowing. As soon as I realized it was more drinking than hunting, I picked up my gun.

The amount of beer I drink is inversely proportional to the amount of birds flying.

This is where a large Thermos comes in handy. Pour them all at the truck.

My accuracy with my bow is a lot like my golf game, gets better after a few beers.

No you can't compare them. Sitting in a box stand looking out over a field while sipping a few beers is a lot different than drinking and then getting on a roadway where you are controlling thousands of pounds of speeding steel around hundreds of other people.

Know what the biggest issue with driving while buzzed? Reaction time. If my reaction time is a little slow in the stand and I don't get a shot on a deer nobody is in danger.

I'm not saying everyone should do it but I know myself and how I hunt.
