In the market for a small-mid sized SUV that gets decent highway mileage. Don't need anything new, but would like to get something in the 5-10 yr old range.

Does something like this even exist? Ideally would love 20-25 hwy mpg, but I know that may not exist. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Our Ford Explorer gets 22 in city and 25 on highway. I think most vehicles if that size are around the same gas mileage.

My 4Runner gets 20mph highway. Highlander and Rav4 do better than that I'm sure

Hybrid Highland gets 40 in town and low to mid 30s on the highway. It's a chick vehicle though. Good ride and comfortable.

Bought a 2022 Highlander in April. Mixed driving getting 25. Highway 30 at 75 mph. 32 at 70 mph. Very happy with it. Bought the XSE trim.

I have a hybrid rav4 that I tow my 17' skiff with. It's fine.

28 mpg when towing the boat.

42 mpg on my recent beach trip to 30a.

18 4runner TRD and get 18. Would have gone highlander but we're actually using the runner for what it was designed.

Bought a ford bronco sport to commute in till my son turns 16 next year. Cost $30k brand new and is averaging 30 mpg Highway. Only has a 1.5L engine but has decent pep. Saving me over half of what the note costs in fuel alone vs my diesel f250 that now sits parked except to tow

This. Minivan will hold more than a suburban and gets 27 mpg on the hwy.

Do you want a true SUV (body on frame) or are crossover (unibody) vehicles an option?

For a true SUV, options are very limited and virtually non existent with that gas mileage. Bronco is possibly your only option. I'm probably forgetting something obvious though.

For a crossover, options are virtually limitless. Every manufacturer has 2 or 3 that would fit your wants. The Mrs has a 2016 Mazda cx5 and we love it. No issues whatsoever. 28-30mpg hwy, 24mpg city. When we get her a new vehicle in a few years, we will definitely be shopping Mazda offerings.
