I assume you could see down in the grass from a plane/chopper? I know if i was looking for something in my hunting thicket, air support wouldnt be much help

This is my concern as well and the guy at the seaplane office said the same. He said that they rarely see wildlife unless it is crossing a body of water or out on a mudflat. Like I said, I'm more than willing to put up some money and organize this, but I'm really hesitant because I'm not sure if it would be successful.

Can anyone on the ground give us some idea on if this would be useful? I would give the pilot sushi's phone number and they could coordinate with each other and share GPS coordinates.

Everyone out looking in the marsh and waters but is anyone staying back at the launch and other residential areas asking questions and such?

I asked the old coffee drinkers in Pastry pantry in chalmette this morning. I have far too much of a North La accent to gain any ground, as they all mumbled and grumbled things in their guido/yat dialect.

Grizz has a good bit of white but if he made it through last night and we don't find him today he will be found on Sat with all the duck hunters in the marsh...

Here is a map of the location of the search. The red X top left is where they were hunting. Hwy 90 is at the bottom, Textron is the first property on the west side of 90, Venitian Isles bottom right, and The Chef Pass to the East

That bank north of 90 that runs east to west would be the highest ground I would think. That with the smells and sounds from people may keep Grizzly in that area

If someone has King Ranch or Choupiquesushi's phone numbers, please give them a call.

I have a seaplane on standby to go help, but need an update/request from them before we put the plane in the air. I'm hesitant to pull the trigger at this point because of the difficulty in locating a dog through the marsh grass, but someone on the ground can give us a better idea if this is feasible or not.

I have been in a helicopter flying low over marsh a few times. I have seen deer running in the marsh, but it was difficult. But I would think a dog with white markings maybe be easier to see, but would still be difficult. Chopper may be better than a plan. Just my two cents.

Come home Grizz!

Any update?

Also, do you think Grizz would be inclined to swim across the canal in this weather if he wasnt chasing a duck?

winds 9E ; I'm hoping this is favorable for Grizz to pick up a human scent if the search party is near Chico Lagoon

No luck. We went everywhere we could get a boat with no luck. We are getting ready to drive the roads. We looked at the option of the seaplane but we have 2 problems with that today. 1) the wind is whipping and 2) even if Grizz was spotted the chance of being able to get to him is also zip.

Temps will be warming today and the wind is switching to start bringing up the water levels. If he was alive and kicking yesterday he is today also and will be till he is found..

Hate to hear this... but certainly not losing hope.

Was there ever clarification from USFWS on the use of an air boat?

We were told that if he was found and we could not get to him then a descion on the airboat would he made then.

We also left a kennel with some of their clothes close to where he was last seen and visible to the people at the launch.

A very random idea, but what about a few kennel type traps with something in there he is fimilar with, i.e. Bone or chew toy?

You may catch something else lol, but it might get him to stay in one spot.

Just a crazy thought, im very unfimiliar with the logistics of this area.
